Fair point, but they didn't really have that much of an impact with us. Usually when a big player for us leaves there's a lot of resentment, and we like to think that they're past it anyway. It's not like that with Ronaldo, we haven't had the best of him, his prime is yet to come, and yet we still like the guy and would welcome him back with open arms. (Are you reading this Ronnie, come back home) I see what you mean, but I wouldn't go as far as saying we didn't have the best out of him. I think with players like Ronaldo you can't say when their prime is, and if anything his prime is likely to be younger, because while he is a complete player, he relies a lot on his pace. I can't imagine him having a better season than 07-08 when he scores 42 goals in a league with more than 2 teams in it, winning the CL and scoring in the final to boot. You're right about big players leaving, but when big players leave United they do so in acrimonious circumstances usually, often following a row with Fergie, and anyone who falls foul of Ferguson will of course fall foul of the United fans too. Ruud, Keane, Beckham are all examples of this, while Heinze and Tevez just conducted themselves terribly and deserve every bit of stick they get. I felt very disappointed when Ronaldo left, especially after he teased us by saying he would stay, but everybody knew he would leave eventually. Fans still love him because he gave us many great memories (and trophies) and commanded a world record fee when he did leave. It's also not his fault the money hasn't been reinvested. Ronaldo is a United legend.

I truly feel Ronaldo will return to United in the not so distant future. It all depends on whether SAF is still here, or simply a manager he will readily go out of his way to play for (Mourinho, although i am not claiming he will manage United in the future), or at the very least having Carlos at the club. As has been said countless times, Ronaldo demands perfection of himself, but also of those around him. He is well aware that the PL is the greatest challenge for a skill player and he will seek it out again.
And lets face it, the man will be good well into his 30s; wont fall off the map once he loses his pace (Kaka).

I really want Ronaldo to come back to United. Come to think of it i'd take Tevez back as well. I also want Keane and Cantona to sign short term deals, perhaps shmikes wouldn't mind being a stop gap between Van Der Sar and our next great keeper. Steve Bruce would be quality back-up for Vidic, and Paul Parker is an obvious replacement for Gary Neville ! Paul Ince could be....alright steady on..

@ Jimbonda
Didn't you say in your previous post that you'd like to see Ronaldo back and now your saying you wouldn't like to see him back?

Ronaldo showed last night he is not any where near the same standard as Messi.

No shame in being second best to a simply amazing player.

Messi had Pep encouraging him, Ronnie had Mourinho. Nuff said.

I wonder what Ronaldo will be thinking as we're lining up to collect our CL winners medal There must be some part of him that regrets going their, that hates Mourinho and that can't stand being second best.

There must be some part of him that regrets going their, that hates Mourinho and that can't stand being second best. i doubt it. it all feeds his vanity. he loves to stand out from the crowd doesn't he. the beacon of attacking hope wrongfully held back by ten other chuggers and a manager conspiring to make him look poor

Hes got to be questioning wether he made the right career move, he's won basically nothing since moving to Madrid. The Kings cup means nothing in terms of the level of success thats demanded at Madrid.
If we win the champions league there will be two people boiling with envy, one being Ronaldo and the other Carlos Tevez.
