Didn't see any of the Spainish football over the weekend but Sid Lowe from The Guardian was absolutely raving over his performance vs Villarreal

18 goals in 19 games now. His incredible run continues.

He scored a right cracker of a free kick vs Villarreal.

He scored a right cracker of a free kick vs Villarreal. It was special. We really miss a clinical free kick taker atm.

Wish we could have him back. He's helping Real look very strong. Much stronger than Barca as of late, thats for sure.

We have won the league cup, going for the English and European Titles. Plus if Ronaldo stayed would we have a 30 goal per season Rooney?

That's true. Rooney is a beast and he's further proving it this year. Sad thing is Ronaldo is pretty much a bonus at Real since they were doing well w/o him, actually won their first game in Deportivo in over 20+ years w/o him, and the one in Valencia. Ive been watching them out of curiosity to see how Ronaldo does and I have to say it like it is...they look damn great for a newly formed side. Lets just hope Kaka and Benzema dont reach full form, otherwise, we're all in trouble. The only other side I fear is Barcelona. When they are on the money they are the best. Interesting to see if Rooney can help carry us to the CL final. Well, lets hope we take care of Milan first. Should be a breeze but you never know

By your posts so far, it looks like you have a lot of respect for Real mate. I despise Real for how they work, but you can't argue with the history of the team. 9 champions league titles when we are just on 3 says it all really.

It does but does anyone know what the competition was like in the first 5 years when they won their first 5.

I'd rather have 9 champions league titles than care who we beat to get them.

Actually, the comp was very good but they had the likes of DiStefano, Puskas, Gento, you name it. Probably the best side ever seen. I don't have to like a team to speak the truth. I can't stand Madrid, but then again I cant stand any of the big clubs anyway. Truth is, and it pains me to say it, a lot of people are envious of Madrid. Players want to go there, kids grow up seeing it as the zenith of football, etc, etc. As far as their business model, it makes sense because one hand washes the other. Banks are taken care of and so are they. For a club that cannot be bought by a multi billionaire, they have to seek out different business models and so far theres has been working. Truth is they are doing things right. Yea, they spend a lot but look at their revenue. And their branding speaks volumes. Media blows everything out of proportion and truth is we love to slate Real as much as they love to slate us. If you look at the whole Ronaldo deal, that deal was done while under Calderon. And if you think Perez is bad Calderon was a real asshole. Anyway...that Ronaldo deal was done under Calderons watch way before the deal was made public. All the while we were being hypocrits calling them out on it. All trying to detract from what we were really doing. A mud slinging fest we did, while behind closed doors, we were dealing. Thats the sad truth . Thats not how I want my club run. all of this to say that we need to look at ourselves first before throwing stones. As for Real, I do like to watch them cause Im curious how Ronaldo does and you have to admit watching any big side is attractive, if anything out of curiosity. I hope Barca win again though and stick it to them but I gotta say, if you have been watching both teams Real look much stronger. Better defense and more goals and 2 of their stars arent even assimilated yet. This may be the turning point.

Watched the last 20 minutes of Real's game against Sevilla and it was a cracker. Really one of the best games I've seen all season in any league. Ronaldo scored (again!) and Real scored the winner in injury time.

Watched him playing for Real against Barca the other night and he was a disappointment really, he was outshone by Messi on a number of levels, talent and attitude for a start.
