I was delighted to see that Michael Carrick was included in the England team. I think that this could be a really confidence booster for him, and it could turn his current form around.
What do the rest of use guys think of the inclusion of Carrick in the England squad?

He's certainly lucky. I like him, he was excellent in the past for us but not nearly as much this season and the one before it. I'm with you, lets hope it changes his direction in form.

Any extra playing time is more of a chance to see him return to form, Capello and the teammates will hopefully nail it into him and training away could do him good. He did seem to do better after the Doha training camp in January with his performances in the 2nd leg of CC and Arsenal away.

I think he can make it if the others just try and guide him back to his original best. He has been missing for such a long time and to be honest it is a shame. I don't think we should sell him as it is not a great idea. As for being in the England team, I think it is a mistake, but by the same token, it might just give him the kick up the arse that he has needed for a long time.

scapegoat for when england mess up i reckon. Theres only 8 United players at the WC that can be blamed for the usual failure, and this tournament its an actual english United players turn after Ronaldo at the last tournament.

Off-topic I know, but Nani scored an absolute peach against Cameroon. Don't forget to watch it. Let us hope all representatives including Carrick have a great world cup.

Guarantee it will be a Manchester United players fault i.e Rooney got sent-off blah blah, or Michael Carrick shouldn't have gone to the world Cup. Completely forgetting the fact that Heskey is useless up front.

Em I think the fact that he played centre back in November got him in, you never know there could be a major injury crisis with the defense.

Never played well for England so I'm not counting on him regaining his confidence. That's if he even gets on the pitch.

Cappello has proven that current form has fuck all to do with his squad selection. Shit... Bowyer had a better season than Carrick and there was no way he was going was there?
England need a decent holding mid to replace Barry if he gets injured, which is a massive possibility given his recent fitness. It looked as if the only two who would play in that area and not go for a wander whenever the feeling took them, (Lamplard,) was Carrick and Huddlestone. So Carrick is probably the best of a bad bunch.

I think we could be in for a shock..(I am not holding my breath) and hopefully he will turn in a performance like he did against Roma, I don't care if its against Algeria or the USA, just want him to get back to normal.

I agree with you mate I think he is a great footballer when on form. I think he has confident issues do, one or two poor games seems to make him drop his head, which ultimately results in him having one or two months of bad form.
