cena's been getting booed by some and cheered by others for 6 years. it's not a problem, because he draws money.

I just got through watching this week's RAW. My God, they really are stretching the whole "Cena's a hero" thing right now. First, he does his entrance, then storms back up the ramp to get a soldier on camera. I get it, Memorial Day/Weekend, fair enough. But later on, Ron Killings throws some drink over a guy who is at RAW with his son, the pair of them looking like the John Cena merch stand shat on them, and Cena rushes over to apologise, gives an armband and everything. What a stand-up guy. If it wasn't so clearly a work, I might have let it go as a decent bit of improv from both guys. That's not even the worst part. Throughout the match, Killings was acting the total cock, out of the ring after basically every Cena offense (which consisted entirely out of his 5 move repertoire) and the crowd still ended up chanting "Cena Sucks". R Truth was working his ass off to garner some serious heat and he just couldn't get it. The whole Cena as a fan favourite simply ain't working anymore. Your fan favourite cannot be getting booed every entrance and everytime he does a signature move. It's embarrassing. Killings actually did a really good job of working the crowd but he was figthing a losing battle all the way. Even his ultimate heel move (throwing the drink over the 'random' fan) didn't get as big of a negative response as Cena setting up for the 5 Knuckle Shuffle. Which he completely missed, AGAIN. I'm not asking for huge contact, just some, anything. Just don't slap the mat 4 inches from the guy's head. Million Dollar Man could hit a fist drop and make it look legit everytime. Why can't Cena do it once? I shouldn't be made enraged by WWE! Cena is awful, 'E need to blood some proper superstars very quickly to fill out the top of the card and get Cena dropped. Cena is the very definition of a "proper superstar". Wrestling is a business, and Cena is a huge draw who shifts tons of merch. In addition, he is a great role model for kids and a great ambassador for pro wrestling in the media. On top of all that, he makes his opponents looks good, produces entertaining matches with the fans get into (the whole "lets go cena" "cena sucks" thing is 1000000x better than no reaction. As long as the fans are into it that's all that matters). WWE really couldn't ask for a better top guy than Cena. You seem like one of those guys who hates the very concept of pro wrestling. I mean really, criticising the face for being a standup guy? Really? It's called pro wrestling.

R Truth was working his ass off to garner some serious heat and he just couldn't get it. that's because his heel push has been weak and he's nowhere near the level yet where he can be in the ring with cena and be taken seriously as a threat

i can understand one_loves ill feelings towards a cheesy 80's style babyface in the modern era, and a fully grown man isn't gonna pump his fists at what cena says in his promos or for his cartoon style way he executes certain moves at a time when people are more savvy to the way the business works and have a wider appreciation for what they consider is good work-rate and spots etc.
he's also always going to be a scapegoat for the shitty product, simply because he's clearly defined as the top guy. there is also a chronic lack of star power in the company, and he's not got a good selection of top level heels to work with. if Punk had been elevated as THE top heel in the business, which he should be, him and Cena could work a great program, an edgier, more sophisticated program than what we are used to.
what i can't accept is criticising cena's ability. he's been asked to take his character in this direction, be a family-friendly action hero, and he does an incredible job of working it. he has good intensity in the ring, sells, fires up, and he does the two things that are more important than an elaborate move-set or a repetoire of spots, he gets a reaction and he draws money, hence he is a bona fide star. he was a phenomenal, edgy character when he was rapping pre-2004, and the 18-30's were into him, and they have a short memory when they say he's useless and he can't work a bit.

you'd be the only one. i've got this weeks raw on dailymotion, and truth was getting cheered when he came out ranting on the mic. he stuck a mic in some kids face and he said his old catch-phrase 'what's up' and there was a massive pop. what sort of fucking heel do u call this?

I don't doubt truth could be a capable heel, but WWE have booked him short. He slapped morrison around, and no-one cares. why should they? and he rants at the crowd. so what? it's just not enough, it doesn't make people think 'you fucking arsehole, i wanna see you get your arse kicked' which is what a heel is sposed to do.
it's WWE at it's buffon-headed best. they want him to get heat on this weeks raw, yet they HAVE HIM WALK OUT THROUGH THE FUCKING CROWD ! How the fuck is he gonna get heat off a crowd who are excited to see him walking amongst them?

I love Truth right now, but to be fair I don't think he's a great heel. He is hilarious, but not someone who is going to draw a lot of heat.
