Seems that the fans on Beeb 606 are negative about Rooney. Watching the match over here in Paris, and the commentators are pretty positive about Rooney, complementing his passing. Have we discovered a new Paul Scholes??

Have the screw ups begun in earnest ? That opening goal apart, England have looked disjointed and they will do well to win this one.. If Capello wanted to test the Universal truth that Lamp-Gerard pairing does not work, he could have done so in any number of meaningless friendlies..

And Wright Phillips is looking shit, Kings injury prone-ness has surfaced in the first half, wtf happened to Milner?? and Heskey couldnt hit the broadside of a barn with a banjo, and hasnt for 4 months now* New World Cup, same England failures. * im half expecting him to make me eat my words

The irony of Cuntard getting booked for dissent to the ref after what he said about Rooney having to keep his cool......haha

The irony of Cuntard getting booked for dissent to the ref after what he said about Rooney having to keep his cool......haha Was it for dissent or for the tackle as the studs were high. Also, I hope that Capello doesn't bring on Carragher again. Disgusting challenge, should have been red. As for Wazza, poor match although his distribution was good, didn't shine as he should do. So, more negatives than positives.

If ever there's one thing that you can be sure of, it's Heskey fluffing his lines . Nice pass to Howard ... Thankfully, it wasn't to be for Stevie Me and we wouldn't have heard the end of Captain marvel leading by example..

Robert Green, I never understand how a PROFESSIONAL goalkeeper who is payed so much can't even catch a rolling ball. Disgrace performance.

Wright-Phillips was shite! Terry and Carragher were absolutely shaky. Sorry friends but I think Carragher should´ve been sent off for that plunge with the arm. Lucky bastard. Hope really he doen´t play anymore. Very unconvincing from England once more. Great qualifying campaign, but lately just torment to watch. You´ll be lucky to get through the second round.
Gutted for Green, too.

@ WR73
I would say Rooney had a quiet game rather than a poor one. He was marked out of it.. Link up play and distribution were good which is a positive... Having that joke of a winger SWP didn't help either.. The sooner England do away with the Lamp-Diver nonsense, the better.. In fact, on today's showing reaching the semis is a distant dream..

Were Tylesley and Townsend smoking crack before the game? They complete nonsense they were spouting about Gerrard and Lampard was baffling. Anyone that has even a basic knowledge of football good see they were horrible in midfield together again. The two boys were going on like it was Keane and Scholes in their prime!! Embarassing.

This is what I was talking about, his distribution. That is why I stated earlier that the French commentators were very complentary about Wayne Rooney throughout the match. They also say that perhaps he is still carrying the injury he had against Bayern so, physically he is not on form.

My worries about englands midfield pretty much raised there heads tonight. Capello is one of the great coaches but he's making the same mistakes sven and mcClaren made. Show some balls and drop either lampard or gerrard. England just can't keep the ball and a manager who is known for his tactical nouse plays two players that naturally run away from the ball instead of coming short and getting on it and working the ball around the field into little pockets of space
. How can rooney possibly get himself into the game if there is no fluiency and ball from midfield and engs up spending the majority of the match waiting for heskey to flick the ball on or down to him. England played like stoke tonight and the writing is on the wall im afraid.
