Feel sorry for the lad. Hopefully he can come back from it.
He's probably not going to be good enough for United but I hope he can have a decent career elsewhere despite this.

Yeah, really hope he recovers well. Never know though. Perhaps he will find that extra determination and get everything right on track. Hoping all the best for him.

Heartbreaking. Cruciate injuries can be the death knell of any top-level career. Might just be the end of his chances with us. Shame really.

Manchester United’s peculiar £7.5million transfer of misfit striker Bebe is being investigated by anti-corruption police in Portugal, it emerged on Friday night. It appears about £3m of the fee paid went missing. United’s decision to pay so much money for a virtual unknown raised eyebrows when they struck the deal with Portuguese club Vitoria Guimaraes in August 2010. Only 20 at the time, Bebe made just three starts for United - none in the league - before being loaned to Besiktas in Turkey last summer. He appeared out of his depth at Old Trafford, raising questions as to why United had made such an investment. Now it has emerged that Portuguese police are looking into the deal to find out where around £3m of the money has gone. Their anti-corruption department have scheduled hearings with various witnesses in Iberia. There is no suggestion that United did anything wrong and they have previously gone on record as saying none of the transfer fee went directly to an agent. On Friday night United declined to comment. Directors at Vitoria claimed at a board meeting 18 months ago that around three million euros went to Bebe’s agent, Jorges Mendes, as part of the deal. On Friday night, Mendes’ company Gestifute did not confirm or deny that police have been in touch. Bebe’s transfer was so unusual because he was playing for tiny Division Two club Estrela da Amadora and living in a homeless shelter only weeks before joining United. Sir Alex Ferguson has admitted he signed Bebe ‘blind’, having seen him play only on video. Former United No 2 Carlos Queiroz pointed Ferguson towards the tall striker after he scored 40 goals in six games during a street tournament. Bebe went from earning £12,000 a year at Estrela to £12,000 a week at United. His former boss Jorge Paxaio told Sportsmail the player could have been signed for just £125,000 the previous year. This season he has just started playing for Besiktas after rupturing knee ligaments last summer. He is expected to be sold by United - probably back to Portugal - this summer, to end one of the strangest transfers of modern times. www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2129517/Bebe-transfer-probed-Portuguese-police.htmlOh dear .Mr Mendez could find himself in some trouble here, all that greasing of wheels may have been in vain.

Manchester United have declined to comment on reports that authorities in Portugal are investigating missing money from the deal that took Bébé from Vitória Guimarães to Old Trafford two years ago. The Premier League club said at the time that none of the £7m transfer fee had been paid directly to an agent, and though plenty of eyebrows were raised in 2010 at such a fee being paid for an unknown quantity, Sir Alex Ferguson admitted he had never seen play, United's position is that until any accusations are levelled specifically at them there is no need to become involved. "There is no need to comment at this stage because no one is alleging any wrongdoing by us," a United spokesman said. Portuguese police believe up to £3m of the money United paid out cannot now be accounted for, and are investigating Vitória claims that roughly that amount went to the player's agent, Jorges Mendes. While there is no suggestion of any actual illegality on United's behalf, the issue remains a major embarrassment for the club, who must have been hoping the loan deal that saw Bébé farmed out to Besiktas for a season would foreshadow a quiet sale in summer to bring an end to one of Ferguson's most bizarre transfer deals. Apparently signed on the recommendation of Carlos Queiroz, the former United assistant coach and national team manager of Portugal, Bébé made only three starts for United and never looked remotely good enough, and when stories began to circulate that he had been available the season before for as little as £125,000 the general feeling among fans was that he would have been poor value even at that price. www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/apr/14/manchester-united-bebe-transfer-probe

good, I am glad about this because the Bebe transfer absolutely stunk! something majorly wrong went on back then and it worries me we were involved in such a move.
The only issues are, the Portuguese police couldn't investigate anything if their life depended on it, the agents and those involved will have covered their tracks well.
Bebe was a front for something, a way of payments being made somewhere and it fucking stinks.

To be fair, I feel for Bebe in this situation.
Wasn't anywhere near good enough and was lobbed in at the deep end. Still, he can always say he scored a CL goal!

You guys do realise that its the club Vitoria being investigated and next to nothing directly to do with either United or Bebe. It just gets more media attention if they 'link' us into it.
