Thought Islam brayed him on the feet too. More or less all of the best shots in that fight were from Islam.

However, having said that I thought Volk did fight well. The size difference is vast. Not just height, but Islam would’ve been so much heavier than Volk by the time the fight started. Which shows how strong Volk is to cope with the grappling admirably.

Volk clearly in the ascendancy at the end, his cardio is ridiculous. That’s where the size difference didn’t benefit Islam, as he’d gone through a really tough weight cut. If there had been another round, Volk would’ve won. But if my Aunty had bollocks, she’d be my uncle. It’s a five round fight and Islam probably won four of them.

What a fight. Volk would have won if there was another round. Great performance from both guys. They need to go again.

Probably that weight cut was catching up with Islam by the end, Volk was certainly on the up.
Credit to Islam for risking his belt against Volk for his first defence, not many will be ready for it.

Don’t understand how Islam can be called P4P champ though. Fought someone considerably smaller and was arguments that he was beat.

Until Islam has cleared out his division and tried to take on the weight above he isn’t that for me.

I still think volk is pound for pound #1

Johnny Bones has fought like 3 times in 5 years and not at all for 3 years. He also looked less than convincing in his last 2 fights. He's also untested at heavyweight. I think he has to be the favourite simply because he's Jon Jones, but I don't think it's cut and dry by any means. I'm not usually a betting man, but I would have a value bet on Gane if the odds were longer. I think the fact that the odds aren't longer says a lot.

Yeah, I think I’m less concerned about how he looked before the layoff (could be put down to being unmotivated). But to come back at the very top of the heavyweight division is so difficult to do.

I’m a big Jones fan (the fighter, not the man) and would love to see him get the job done. But it really feels like he could all of a sudden look very slow and very old in there. We’ve seen it many times before.
