I loved this moment, Keane offering Viera out after he slagged off Neville in the tunnel then we went out and done the business against Arsenal away 2-4

I thought I would use my 5,000th post to have a little ramble...I haven't really thought this through so I'm not sure where this is going...please feel free to ignore...
Back in 1960 a new family moved into our housing estate to the West of London...
They all had funny accents and it turned out that they were from Manchester...a place I barely knew of and I certainly had no idea where it was...
I was 5 years old and starting to think about what football team I should support...considering where I was from, I could have picked any of the London clubs (my brother chose Spurs)...
But the family said to me that I should support United...they told me about the Babes and the (quite recent) air crash that claimed so many lives...
...and without a second thought, I chose United...a decision that you make for life...
So, I was around to see the emergence of a second great United team under Matt...George Best, Bobby Charlton and then Denis Law...we played with a verve and panache that was all United were about, although we weren't unique in that approach in those days...
I saw us win the European Cup on that unforgettable night...and the slow disintegration of that once great team and also, even more sadly, of Georgie Best...I watched a tragedy unfold, slowly, but relentlessly...
Matt Busby retired and we had a succession of managers, none of them able to conjure up the magic of Matt...George left and we meandered around...we became a bit of a cup team and watched as Liverpool dominated the league...our season was a success if we could stop them winning the double by taking the FA Cup...
Then we got relegated to the Second Division...a really exciting team emerged under Tommy Doc, with Stevie Coppell and Gordon Hill on the wings...we went on to break pretty much every ground attendance record in the division and duly got promoted back...
One season, we had a great start under Ron Atkinson...can't remember exactly but we won something like the first 11 games...but still couldn't maintain it to win the league...
Enter Alex Ferguson...OK,it was tricky for a while but after that FA Cup win, we never looked back and went on to dominate for years (you all know about those years)...until we find ourselves where we are today...not quite full circle but I doubt we will reach those dizzy heights consistently again...although I'd love to see it...
So although I am from the South of England and have endured the accusations and taunts over the years associated with that geographical location for a United supporter, I am happy and extremely grateful that I made that choice all those years ago...
I have suffered the heartaches and pain and the ecstasy and magnificent highs that go with being a supporter of this magnificent club and never regretted a minute of it...

Recently I promised to start recalling my Manchester United memories, some going back 60+ years. I will commence by an early memory from 1948. The occasion; Manchester United’s triumphant parade with the F.A.Cup. Location; Up a lamppost in Albert Square, Manchester. I had been taken from Lower Broughton to Albert Square, by my mother a non-football follower to see the returning heroes of Manchester United parading the coveted F.A Cup through the town centre in an open top, double decker bus. I recall it was something special and complained I couldn’t see what was going on, at 7 years of age I was rather small. With that some United supporter lifted me up a lamp post where I perched, legs over the metal cross piece arms hugging the crown f the lamp. The crosspiece was originally added to the design of the old lamp posts so that the ‘lamp lighter’ could rest his ladder against the lampost whilst lighting the wick of the ‘gas’ light. A roar went up and into the square the bus arrived. On the top deck of the red bus were members of the 1948 F.A Cup Winning side. Instantly I was swept up in the euphoria of the occasion. I was at the very second in time, Manchester United’s newest supporter. There were my newest hero’s: Crompton, Carey, Aston, Anderson, Chiltern, Cockburn, Delaney, Morris, Rowley, Pearson, Mitten accompanying them was Matt Busby who had steered his side to Wembley by battling through all stages of the FA Cup and by beating first division opposition in every round. This included the 3-0 demolition of champions Liverpool.I don’t remember much more of the day except the mass of red, white & black scarves and the long walk to the Salford Exchange Bus Station to go home. Short & sweet memory, but it still lives with me. More to come when the mists of time clear. Bred Red This gent was the real OG United supporter. 8 posts but each one of them pure class. Anybody know what happened to him? Hope he's well.

Why did we ever let Nani go?? When he was good he was good, Good? He was a damn sight better than anyone currently at the club by some margin.
