Same was said of Carrick, Anderson, Nani, Young and Jones.
A player's value is determined by the two clubs, and the success of that purchase can only be judged in time. If Liverpool win the league next year or in the coming years with Henderson and Downing at the heart of the team, you won't get many liverpool supporters complaining about the fees they paid.

No shit. I think the point is most people don't think they'll be good enough to do that with those players, but time will tell I suppose.

You say no shit, yet how many people judge signings straight away without ever taking that into account.
They've brought in a promising striker who dominates in the air, they've bought Downing to give him the balls in the box he'll crave. Henderson is another promising young player. Sure, I think they over paid for those players, but with clubs reluctant to sell their best players, you're always going to pay a premium, and like you say, only time will tell how wise these investments are.
Veron at £28 million looked a steal, whereas Carrick at £18 million was considered overpriced. Just saying

Oh, and not many people thought us buying just Carrick and PIG in 2006 would help us. It's all about buying the right players for your team, not necessarily the best players.

Ok let's not comment on any transfer from now on then until we've seen the players play at their new clubs for years.

I think Villa will come in with a more higher bid for N' Zogbia now they have got more money to spend for the Downing deal. I also see that Villa have made a £7m for Scott Parker.

Where did you hear that about Parker? Him and N'Zogbia would both be good buys for Villa. They should re-sign Hitzlsperger on a free too.

If Villa could get Given, Parker, N'Zogbia and Hitzelsperger for the money they received for Downing, that would be a pretty sweet swop. They'd still have the Young money to sign a top drawer striker as well, could be back challening for the top 7 if they get those

Because obviously no true top drawer striker would join Villa. Do you mean a good PL striker?

Chelsea have agreed to sign highly-rated teenage goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois on a five-year deal from Genk. Reports suggest that the Stamford Bridge outfit have invested €9million (£7.9million) to land the well-regarded 19-year-old from the Belgian champions. Courtois, who has been compared to former Manchester United shot-stopper Edwin van der Sar, has been earning rave reviews for his performances in Belgium. Genk admitted that they had little option but to let their last line of defence depart once the Blues made their intentions plain with a substantial bid. "We received an enormous offer that gave us no choice but to let our goalkeeper leave," Genk director Dirk Degraen told a press conference. "But I have mixed feelings about this transfer. Genk wanted Thibaut to stay a bit longer." New Blues boss Andre Villas-Boas later confirmed that a deal had been reached over the shot-stopper. Agreement "There is an agreement between the two clubs," Villas-Boas said. "It is also subject to personal agreements and from then we will decide what is best for him." Asked whether Courtois could challenge for a first-team spot this season, Villas-Boas added: "Let's wait for him to agree terms. "It seems unfair for me to make any comment on him but as soon as he is a Chelsea player we will see what kind of future he has." Courtois, who has already been capped by his country despite his age, was under contract in his homeland until 2014 and does not expect immediate first-team action in West London. "Chelsea see me as the successor to Petr Cech," he admitted recently. "It won't happen in one or two years, but in three, four or five years. I can therefore work on my development in peace." www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11661_7041514,00.html
