Playing Odyssey now. It's so fucking good. The stealth elements have improved vastly from the last AC I played. Honestly not many games could get close to 70+ hours out of me. AC Odyssey did, basically the perfect game in many respects and it's beautifully animated (especially on ultra graphics!!) Tempted to pull the trigger on AC Origins when it's on sale again - anyone had a go? Played Origins again recently and even though it’s not quite up to the standard of Odyssey it’s still excellent. I see it as kind of a test run for the game mechanics that they pretty much perfected in Odyssey. Looks impressive in its own right but not on the same scale.

Tempted to pull the trigger on AC Origins when it's on sale again - anyone had a go? Similar gameplay, but no choices in dialogue etc and the armour/weapon system is less fleshed out. I personally thought the core story of Origins was better than Odyssey’s. If you like one you should like the other. Worth noting that in a world of microtransactions both these games have two genuine high-quality add-on stories each. I recommend getting both Origins’ DLC’s and both of Odyssey’s too (the latter is two stories but split into 6 parts, the former just two self-contained stories). Yeah the DLC’s are both excellent. The Atlantis one is bonkers but great fun. Really liked episode 2, the one with Hades.

They have improved on a few things with Odyssey, but gameplay is mostly the same. I played Oblivion after Skyrim, and it was kind of ruined for me because things were so different and difficult to get used to. You won't find that problem here.

Me playing AC:Odyssey: Won't turn round and go back a few steps to collect some metal that I missed while running, because who's got time for that?
Also me playing AC:Odyssey: Spends half an hour hiding in a bush outside a fort, studying the movements of the guards, so I can meticulously plan my attack.

Don’t remember ever going back to collect something I ran past. Did find plenty of time to walk round Athens, Olympia and Delphi like I was just a civilian though! Taking in the sights. Reading about people currently playing the game just makes me want to start it again. Might play it as Kassandra to see if it feels different!

Wandering around aimlessly just looking at stuff and doing the odd side quest is my favourite way to play. I'm at level 56 now, and I still haven't me my Mother. But I have killed 3 Cyclops', and all the legendary beasts. That smelly fucking boar took me about 15 goes to get him. The Hyena was easy as fuck, though. Got him first go without breaking a sweat. I was expecting it to be the toughest one, but it was just dodge - stab - dodge - stab ad nauseam. I don't think I even lost any health. Absolutely hated the way that quest line ended as well.

Pretty much finished AC:Odyssey now. Just clearing all the remaining locations. I'm going to start another playthrough soon because I'm pretty sure I took the wrong option most of the big decisions.
One of my favourite thing is that it never gets too easy. I got killed by a couple of boars earlier. In most games, you eventually reach a stage that you don't have to worry too much about most lesser enemies, but in Odyssey a pig will still fuck you up even when you're at level eleventy nine.

Think I got killed by boars more than anything else on the fucking game! They’re fast and when there’s a few of them running at you from all angles it’s tough. Yeah I made loads of shitty decisions. When I’d go back to previously completed locations, there’d always be a character refusing to speak to me or one who went to shit because of the choice I made. The little girl on one of the Greek Islands who loses her parents comes to mind!

There were burnt out villages in just about every area of the map after that, and I'm pretty sure it's because I spread the plague by letting that family go. Might have missed out on some quests because of that.

Yeah this was my experience of it. Started a new save today and it’s crazy how new it feels. The game is that fucking long that the earlier parts of the game feel like I played them 5 years ago. Think I’m gonna kill the family this time to see how it pans out.
