Recently finished the 2018 (pre Ragnarok) God of War.
Wonderful game, up there with RDR2, GTA V & Assassin's Creed Odyssey as one of my Favourites.

So Nintendo/Rare/Microsoft (urgh) are finally releasing a Goldeneye 007 remaster and it is out tomorrow. You can get it as part of the Nintendo Online+N64 expansion or on whatever the Xbox version of Online is.
Xbox gets a 4k full remaster, Switch gets 1080p but online multiplayer. Both have split screen multiplayer.
Goldeneye was era-defining for plenty of people and I'm included. Hard to describe the genuinely heart-fluttering effect of imagining playing it in a modern standard. It is enough for me to consider getting a Switch *today*.

It could be brilliant, but to be honest, as revolutionary and fun as it was at the time, the game needs a lot of work to get it up to modern standards. Whether they've done that work, or been too afraid and left it as it was in the 90s, remains to be seen.
We could do a RoM online session at some point. No Oddjob!

Feeling a little nostalgic so dug out my old Splinter Cell games. The first one is over 20 years old and I don’t think I’ve played it since it first came out.
Gaming has moved on but the gameplay is still a lot of fun!

Is it available on PS4 at all?

Is it available on PS4 at all? Yeah it was the first franchise I ever got properly obsessed with outside of sport-based games. Not sure mate. I’m on Xbox and noticed they made them backwards compatible a couple of days ago. Luckily, because I’m a hoarder, I still had some of the games knocking around!

Looks like the new Zelda is even better than BoTW.

I really wish I still played games as I did with my son as he was growing up. I think ‘you’re too bloody old you dick’ but then I see blokes of (roughly) my age ,queuing up for the latest release of Zelda. There may be hope for me yet😂

Never too old to be a gamer. 🤘 And the console of choice? I'm strictly playstation. Teetering on getting the PS5. My trusty 4 has served me well.

That nearly mirrors my situation but I have always been more interested in the hardware and software sides of the computer and console scenes going back to the 70s. Ive lost count of how many consoles I modded over the years. I remember some boffins in the USA IIRC that built a supercomputer using about 30 PlayStation 2 consoles strapped together and making use of its (at the time)powerful emotion engine chip. Amazing stuff. Even with the latest games I don’t think the true power of any modern console is fully utilised
