My boy had PS 1 ,2 and 3 ,as we bought them for him when he lived at home, but then got married, had our granddaughter, and stopped. He’s no time atm bless him. That nearly mirrors my situation but I have always been more interested in the hardware and software sides of the computer and console scenes going back to the 70s. Ive lost count of how many consoles I modded over the years. I remember some boffins in the USA IIRC that built a supercomputer using about 30 PlayStation 2 consoles strapped together and making use of its (at the time)powerful emotion engine chip. Amazing stuff. Even with the latest games I don’t think the true power of any modern console is fully utilised When you think of the average’ mobile phone has more computing power than the Apollo rocket that took people to the moon ,and now, the notion that AI is growing exponentially,it makes you wonder where we’re going to end up!

I still have a decent collection of old consoles, computers and arcade machines and I like to dabble in the odd bit of retro programming now and then. Those were the days of programming in assembly and juggling resources in an old Atari 65XE with its massive 64kb of memory(which about a third is already taken by the OS). One picture taken on an iPhone is many megabytes(over 100 tine the entire memory of an 80s 8 bit computer). The evolution of technology over the last 50 years has been mind blowing and god knows where we will be in 50 years time.

The evolution of technology over the last 50 years has been mind blowing and god knows where we will be in 50 years time. ChatGPT's answer to the 50 year question 😂 Future of technology. User Where will we be technology wise in 50 years ChatGPT Predicting the exact state of technology 50 years in the future is difficult, as there are many factors that can influence technological progress. However, based on current trends and advancements, it is likely that we will see significant developments in areas such as artificial intelligence, robotics, biotechnology, and nanotechnology. Here are some potential developments that may occur over the next 50 years: Artificial Intelligence (AI): AI technology is expected to continue improving and become even more integrated into our daily lives. We may see advancements in areas such as natural language processing, computer vision, and deep learning, which could lead to more intelligent virtual assistants, autonomous vehicles, and intelligent robots. Robotics: With advancements in AI and materials science, robots could become more versatile, efficient, and agile. We may see the development of advanced humanoid robots that can perform a variety of tasks, from manufacturing and construction to healthcare and personal assistance. Biotechnology: The ability to edit genes and manipulate living organisms at the molecular level is expected to continue advancing, which could lead to breakthroughs in medicine and agriculture. We may see new treatments for diseases, personalized medicine based on genetic profiles, and genetically modified crops that can better withstand climate change. Nanotechnology: The ability to manipulate matter at the nanoscale could lead to new materials and devices with unprecedented properties. We may see the development of stronger and lighter materials, more efficient energy storage devices, and nanorobots that can target cancer cells. Virtual and Augmented Reality: As VR and AR technology continues to improve, we may see more immersive and interactive experiences in fields such as gaming, education, and entertainment. Overall, we can expect significant advancements in technology over the next 50 years, with the potential to transform many aspects of our lives

The fact I'm sat in my garden, my Bose Bluetooth speaker is playing songs from my mobile phone, I can control the volume, go back, forward and chose absolutely any song I feel like listening to is pretty mind-blowing. Ten years ago, it was CDs and limited to what you had in your collection!
AI is going to be very interesting in the next few years me thinks. Tin foil hats out for Terminator 😯😀

You get used to it, and the visual product honestly left me pretty taken aback as the story progresses and you start travelling to different planets. Epic. The gunplay, and variety + depth of gear is mind-blowing. About to start a playthrough again with some mates

So, the little devil in my head is telling me to buy a PS5 even though there is nothing wrong with my 4 (no jinx 😂)
Anyone help an old fart out? It's nearly £100 more for the disc edition. I found myself downloading more and more games so having a physical copy doesn't bother me as much, but I do have quite a few games for the PS4, so they would be backwards compatible I guess if I got the disc edition. Worth listening to the devil or wait some more?

Worth listening to the devil or wait some more? If you’ve got a good internet connection don’t get the disc edition. All your purchases are saved on your profile. You can easily get expandable storage in your ps5 later should you need it. It’s a purchase you won’t regret.

Worth listening to the devil or wait some more? if you have the disks already and have the desire to replay them, then the disk edition is the way to go. (disk editions should have better residual value for resale, if your so inclined) as far as the platform, GET IT! I upgraded from the PS4 Pro to the PS5, the difference was noticeable. load times are mostly eliminated and there are some games that feel better with the haptic feedback.
