Cheers guys! This is the first time I've waited to buy the 'new' console. I usually get one straight away on release. Fucked if I was buying from a scalper with the 5 though!

I am pro-disc edition. If you buy the digital, you're beholden to the PlayStation store, when if you get the disc one then many games could be cheaper at CEX or Amazon or wherever. A few examples: Hogwarts Legacy - £50 on Amazon, £65 on PS Store. FIFA 23 - £40 on Amazon, £70 on PS Store. Horizon: Forbidden West - £35 on Amazon, £43 on PS Store. It's £100 more for the disc version, but if you buy 10+ games across the console's lifetime (no more than two a year realistically) then I think you'll comfortably save money, in addition to having backwards compatability and the ability to borrow games from friends.
On buying the PS5 more generally - absolutely. Miles ahead of the PS4, even though we're only starting to unlock its potential. Some games have literally eliminated loading times altogether (stuff like Ghost of Tsushima, Spider-Man) bar the 15/20 seconds when you first start the game. Fast travel is instant in both of those. And the graphics are great too, especially 60FPS (much better than 4K IMO).

1. It’s your own stupid fault if you’re spending real life money on stupid games like Hogwarts or FIFA. those games belong at the $ store. 😜 2. Get a PlayStation plus extra account mayn. All these games get released for free on their games catalogue within months anyway. Horizon forbidden west ? Free. God of war? Free. It’s 90$ for a year and a TON of games. Getting a disc edition is generally falling by the wayside and imo, next gen won’t even have a disc edition. Also, what do you mean beholden to ps store ? With your account, your purchase lasts forever. So you’re not beholden your purchase is secure. Save the 100 quid, get ps plus extra and you’ve got a games catalogue that is absolutely massive.

The point I’m trying to make, is PS store is vastly better these days at offering discounted pricing than you would from buying physical discs. I’ve encountered many cases where prices have fallen faster on the ps store than with places that sell cds. Several brilliant releases get put on PlayStation plus for free. It is vital to Sony that subscriber numbers to their store and psplus increase. As such they will continue to incentivize people using psplus and the store. The trend I’m seeing, is it is far more beneficial to get on digital than cds. Also, it wouldn’t hurt the environment if we stopped buying pieces of plastic altogether. 🤷♂️

Diablo IV has consumed the little free time I have around our newborn.
Wonderful return to the darker roots of DII, taking my time and just entered Act II at level 43 😂
There's so much depth to the world they've created, could potentially put 100+ hours into this easily before even getting through the main story for the first time. Leagues ahead of DII.
Also, managed to grab AC Ragnarok on a 75% off sale on Steam (think it's on til the 15th of June) - after Origins and Oddysey I'm stoked to have that to look forward to!

You’ve basically confirmed my worst fears re D4 . I was considering purchasing it but was wary of it being a time sink. Now I guess I won’t.

It's unbelievable though, and I say this having run through DII perhaps 60+ times with different characters. It's on that level.

On second reading I realise my post could have been misconstrued, the campaign itself isn't at all that long and you can probably finish the game at level 45 or so.
I actually just want to make the experience last longer since it's been so long since DIII and I'm a big fan of the franchise - hence nerding out on all the sidequests, strongholds, world bosses etc 😂

Just picked up my new PS5. It was on offer at Currys with GoW for £479. I plumped for the disc option.

But I've got quite a lot of games on disc, so that's my reasoning behind getting this one. Growing up I went from vinyl to cassette to cd to streaming! Sick of buying the same album 4 times 😂😂

If you’ve bought the cd for the ps4, you can download the same game from psn for free on the same profile that you played the disc on, and play it on the ps5. There really is no downside.

I've not had chance to play it yet, was doing data transfer, then went to GFs. Looking forward to getting on it later 🙂
