I've been trying since Saturday to get the discs to play. Nothing works, I've even done a factory reset and another data transfer last night. I've lifted all the user restrictions, restored licences, tried 5 different games. Nothing.
Whilst setting it up again last night, I put the data disc in for RDR 2 and that has downloaded, but the play disc doesn't work. All it says is insert disc to play game even after inserting it. The disc is spotless too. The fucking thing is going back at this rate, I'll stick with my 4.

Digital games are fine. New GoW and the last of us work. It's like there is a faulty disc reader or something. Then again, the data disc from red dead worked. I'm fucking stumped.

All my ps4 discs work just fine. |

Sounds like a disc drive hardware issue, which is very annoying. If you call up PlayStation support they should be able to help. I got my PS5 on launch day and it broke instantly - they had horrendous wait times because it was day one, but I eventually got through and got a new one within a week, no charge of course.

I've even dug out some blu ray movies. Nothing! Been on Sony's PS troubleshooting site answered about six different drop down boxes and their answer was it's faulty discs! No, because they work fine in my other console. It's going back to Currys on Wednesday. I always have shit when I buy stuff from them. Not a happy bunny.

Store workers are mimes (not their fault either). They'll read off a corporate issued sheet of paper and unless those pre-conditions are satisfied you won't get a lick of justice. Be prepared for back and forth imo. |
