The Portuguese paper Ojogo, here's the link: www.ojogo.pt/Using Google translate it comes back as: Nico Gaitan will be Manchester United from next season. When they found THE GAME, the transfer of Argentinian international to Old Trafford is almost closed and involves the payment of 25 million euros in cash, which the Red Devils still need to add two more players in order to approach the assessment of the business to 45 million euro release clause stipulated in the sweater 20. And if the oral agreement as to the total amount of money is, there is still filing edges on the name of the United players to head in the opposite direction, which not prevent the conclusion of the understanding. Yet this process is even more complex, however, since it involves the need to understanding many athletes and between their respective business. Initially, the red DSS remitted the interest of Alex Ferguson for the payment of 45 million stipulated in the termination clause, but the leaders of the British emblem proved adamant not to exceed the threshold of 25 million. The solution was, therefore, the inclusion of assets of the club that the players are now starting to run other emblems or even promising young team to play in the second, cases of young Macheda, Petrucci and Baby (see opposite page). The negotiations are being mediated by Jorge Mendes, well connected in both emblems, and from the English club's chief executive, David Gill, who takes the whole process. In the Light, Luis Filipe Vieira also took on the management of the dossier and was a few weeks ago in London to give me further details of the deal, which had long been apalavrado. Because, you know THE GAME, Jorge Jesus himself already know from the Christmas Gaitán will lose at the end of time. The coach was informed at the time that the British had guaranteed the right of first refusal on the player and Manchester would even be your destination. With the approaching end of the season, negotiations accelerated and Argentina did not blink at the possibility of signing the contract of his life, not less than five seasons. Manchester United made the player dozens of comments, mostly through his scout Tom Cross - former player who passed on several national clubs like FC Porto, Belenenses or Academic - but Ferguson also had the former Boca Juniors under an eye. At the end of the first game with the embodied (the group stage of Champions, in the Light), the experienced coach made a point of leaving high praise to the technical and accurate intelligence that could have versatile left-handed to his orders from the next campaign. And if the deal is almost closed, the official announcement of the transfer should never happen before the end of the season, with both clubs only end the respective official duties in the middle of next month

If we part with £45m worth of cash/players for Guitan the people in charge of transfers are criminally insane.

Yeah, Google translate isn't the best, but you get the general idea.
If we are letting them have 2 players, then hopefully it's a couple on loan, or please Bebe and Macheda for keeps!

My favourite part of that translated article:
"negotiations accelerated and Argentina did not blink at the possibility of signing the contract of his life, not less than five seasons."
I mean, that's remarkable.
Yeah, somewhere in all this there's another player we're actually going for and this is just and elaborate cover. Gaitan really hasn't caught my attention at all when I've seen Benfica.

... Don't believe the release clause bit ... It makes no sense. Not even from the translation perspective, but the idea's its conveying are just wrong. If we hypothetically were in for him, there's no chance we'd have stayed interested if they said they wanted the release clause of 45mill euro's. Players for swaps make no sense, the whole point of a release clause is you use to cash to physically buy out the contract. The whole article seem ill-educated. Frankly the whole rumour stinks to me. Gaitan would seem plausible if he was available at a bit of a knock down of other maybe slightly superior targets. So either the moneys off or the whole rumour is just bull. For ~£35mill would stand a fair chance at signing any promising young player around.

Superb. Gaitán is fucked at the Apocalypse.

The fact people think Kiko and Bebe are worth 20million Euros between them is hysterical.

If a bid of 45mill comes in the club cant reject it - it doesnt mean they cant sell for an amount less than that.
It just stops lesser clubs from blocking their best players from moving if a better club comes calling, but also ensures they get a decent amount for the player at the same time.
If Benfica think 25mill + Kiko (5-7mill maybe?) & Bebe (1-2mill) is acceptable to them then they can take it.

If Benfica think 25mill + Kiko (5-7mill maybe?) & Bebe (1-2mill) is acceptable to them then they can take it. Judging on how much Rossi, Pique, Brown and O'Shea went off for, Bebe would only pick up £500,000 and Macheda £1.5M at most I think. But like what SET said, if Benefica thinks they are worth that much, that's cool with me. Put a little extra tikka masala hype, so we can cash in.
