Yeap, the usual suspects are offline so struggling to find sources.
Walt will have to wait for me to catch up.

just watched 2 and 3.
don't read on if you don't want spoilers.
i know at the end of season 4 they showed what direction they were taking mr white, making him the bad guy. i'm not sure i'm liking too much how it's playing out, i mean how he is so obvlivious to his wifes growing disgust with him makes him either stupid (which he's not) or kind of sick in that he doesn't care (which he does or at least should do because it's his familys interests he had at heart in the first place). maybe he's just delusional. we'll have to see how it plays out.

Just finished episode 3 of season 5. I think it's fantastic the way his character is developing. With what's happened to him, how he's survived and saw off other crime lords - he's going to believe himself that he is able to rub shoulders with the bad guys. He started to believe in season 4 when he came out with the corking line 'I'm not in danger, I am the danger' class that was.
What has been brilliant is how subtle they've portrayed and characterised the violence. We've seen Walt rise into this badass and break bad, but everytime we see Skylar in shot disgusted, we only see Walt's figure and not his face, it happened when we just saw his shirt and pants and no head, in which to me was made to look like figure of Gus. I think they're saying violence is faceless and wrong no matter who it is.
Mike is still absolutely class though, really enjoying it, but it's no surprise as I'm a massive fan.

don't get me wrong, the way mr white has changed over the first four seasons was perfect. my only problem in season 5 is that he doesn't seem at all concerned that his wife is repulsed by him, or hasn't noticed, which would make him stupid. i don't quite get why this would be the case
i don't know if it's just because it's the final season but each episode in season 5 has had a seriously unsettling vibe from start to finish. great TV.

Yeh definite chilling vibe, like something is going to happen. With what Walt said at the end of the 3rd episode to Jesse, did he mean he feels Mike is also expendable in given circumstance?
But I like the cold shouldering Skylar has received, listening to her moan, cheat, slime and generally annoy her way through is enough for me to not give a shit at this moment in time, albeit I agree his actions toward her are strange, I just think he's on riding on the crest of a self-belief wave at the moment.
One thing I like about Breaking Bad is that if something is going to happen like the magnet and laptop it'll be the same episode that it happens, -other series' would have been leading up to that event for weeks.

It's strange how he's progressed from being so relieved at getting out of the game to suddenly, without speaking to his wife or any interaction whatsoever, organizes a meeting with Mike and Jesse to start another operation?
Just felt that part of the plot was a bit weak as, in previous seasons, he was essentially entrapped in the scenario, in this one he just jumps straight into it for no-reason other than being a bad-ass now (though, if one thinks about it, many things from previous seasons might actually be attributed to Walt now that we start to realize what he's capable of), a tad flakey.
Rad stuff though, really enjoying it!

heisenberg is broke remember, he said so in one of these recent episodes. (paid for hanks physio therapy and his wife gave loads to beneke!)
but i know what u mean, his motives and mindset didn't seem to flow as seemlessly from season 4 to 5 as they did in previous seasons / episodes.
proves how good the show is when you can barely nitpick for problems.
remember the start of episode one? future walt, alone on his 52nd birthday. since this season is 2 parts i expect that'll be the end of the first half / start of the 2nd half.

Yeh he's back in the game because he was broke as shit cos his wife is a daft bint and then owed Jessie 40 grand.
But yeh Jim, I reckon that'll be the end of the first half of this season, I thought there would be a focus on it at the start of each episode as it linked up like the pink teddy bear in season 2

He's always been quite egotistical and proud. He spent the early part of s4 believing in his own hype. Only towards the end did he realise just how much shit he was in. Having won that battle, I can understand why he would once again think of himself as the big cheese. He's deluded, and broke, so I have no trouble imagining that he would stay in the game.
Look at what we've seen so far in season 5. He's already shown signs of superiority over Mike, despite the fact that without Mike he's nobody.
I think the same is true for his wife. He's completely deluded. He can't see that he's not as important as he thinks he is professionally, and he can't see that he's become a problem at home.
And Daz - I don't think that'll be the end of this season - his 51st birthday is coming up. Having taken 4 and a bit seasons to progress a year, I doubt they would jump so far ahead in such a short space of time. I think that will be 'season 6' or 'season 5b' or whatever we're supposed to call it.

Just watched the latest episode. It's really building now.My only concern is that we're already half-way through this portion of the season. The way it's taking so long to build up gives me reason to believe that this season is only setting up issues that will be resolved in the last eight episodes. I don't want to have to wait another year goddamit.

without a slow build we'd not have got that epic scene with mr white cracking up under the floor boards, or a lot of other stuff. this show is all about consequences and these can take a while to unfold!
what skyler said to walt in the latest episode was a sickener, she does have her reasons but she's still hateable, defo to any of us who have seen how cold and hard nosed a girl can turn no matter how sweet they are before hand!

Thank fuck Skylar's at least said something this episode. Her goddamn silence and lemon face is really pissing me off. There are no likeable traits about her at all.
