Didn’t realise that Emilio Alvarez, DDG’s goalkeeping coach left earlier this year...maybe explains the dip in form... Craig Mawson has just been appointed to replace him... I remember the GK coach that Van Gaal brought did great things with him. He seemed to drop off after that guy left. |

Laurie Whitwell for The Athletic reporting that Dean Henderson is set to rival DDG for the #1 next season. If DDG continues as he does, there' a good chance he claims it as well as DDG has been inconsistent for about 2 years now. Read the other day he's made the most errors that have lead to goals since the start of last season (6 or 7) which is pretty shocking for supposedly a world-class keeper. His distribution and commanding his box are still both average as well.

So next season, who we going with, DDG or Henderson? I'd be tempted to put full faith in Henderson and sell DDG.

How much is De Gea actually worth, though? All very well saying cash in, but I can't see many wanting him - and of those who do, they won't meet our valuation and won't pay the wages he gets here.
I've always been a little sceptical of his status as a top line 'keeper. He's a shot stopper, but his all-round game has always been average, at best.
We always seem a bit more assured at the back when Romero plays, as he comes for crosses and commands his defence. Better distribution when playing out from the back, too.
If we could get rid, I'd be more than happy going into next season with Henderson and Romero fighting it out for no. 1 status.

Probably our most over-rated player in recent years. Cost us top 4 last season, has been very suspect at times this season, too. A top 'keeper isn't just about shot stopping. We always look more assured at the back with Romero in goal. |

He’s been in PFA Team of the Season for 5 times. 4 years on the bounce. He’s won us more games than he’s cost us.
