Not sure where to put this, so I'll just put it here.
Victor Valdes got a knee injury in tonight's match and will miss the rest of the season as well as the World Cup. This must surely open the door for De Gea to join the Spanish national side in Brazil.
Of course this is a massive blow for Valdes and robs him off what could have been a fantastic end to his fantastic Barcelona career, but we have to be selfish and recognize the opportunity this is for our goalkeeper.
I don't see any Spanish goalie better than Dave. Hope he gets the nod.

Hate to see a legend injured like this but it does open the door for our our lad who in my opinion has become a leader for the team this year.

Surprised how this thread has almost reached 50 pages. How naive of us to actually compare DDG with Lindegaard; infact with anyone.

Ter Stegen. Gladbach have already signed Yann Sommer as his replacement.

Once again De Gea costs us no 1 can say he was not fault for both the goals, maybe not the 2nd 1 as much as Evra was out of position. Some of the mistakes he does is just not good enough for a club of this size, he is young he is learning am sick fcking hearing that. Every team we come up against and he starts he costs us it and the other players know that. There are about 100 of these types of posts in the early part of this thread. Hilarious, mind-boggling stuff.

Surprised that you of all people could not see how talented the guy is and that he just needed time to settle into the PL, however I was just as guilty with Fletcher in his beginning's and could not see what SAF saw in him, so I can't talk either

De Gea, easily. He's one of the best young keepers in the world. There are certain things lacking, of course there are, at his age most keepers aren't anywhere near their clubs first team, especially a club the size of United, but how is he gonna get the experience of the premier league and iron out the few problems he has without playing? No problem with Lindegard, and he strikes me as a more than good enough keeper, especially as back up, but doesn't look like he'll ever be a world beater, De Gea does. That was my first post in the thread, I always rated the kid. Everyone makes mistakes though, I once started a thread seriously asking if United should sign Junior Hoilett, so there you go.

I liked the look of Hoilett. What happened to him?

DDG for all the positive reasons mentioned above. Nothing against The Dane, but De Gea is something special. I just find it a bit strange that people are willing to write off De Gea and not give him time to develop, yet they'll happily beg for Pogba to be given a chance. IS the difference the fact that De Gea has had his chance? Is 6 months in a new country and a new club the cut off line? No wonder Fergie isn't willing to risk them, with such impatient fans judging every action of these youngsters. Good point. I think people have convinced themselves that they will become Keane and Scholes the minute they set foot on the pitch and won't actually make mistakes or struggle. De Gea was poor the other night and cost us a point, maybe 3. He's probably earned us at least that already this season and over the course of his career will earn us far more points than he'll cost. The lad's young, inexperienced at this level and style of football so he's unsurprisingly making mistakes. I'm really not sure why people think that spending 18m on a player makes him the finished article. Would Casillas cost 18m? Buffon? Even the likes of Cech, Cesar, Hart? Would you have sold VDS last season for 18m? Bayern spent that much on Neuer even though they basically have first dibs on any German player available or not. We've clearly bought for the long term, and expect De Gea to be our keeper for many years to come. Obviously there will be some mistakes as he learns a new style of football, a new language, a new culture both club and country, and faces new challenges. Have we become a club that pays lip service to its history and traditions (like bringing through youth) but is really about winning at all costs? De Gea isn't perfect at the moment, but chances are he probably will be in the near future. When that happens some of you will end up looking foolish. First and second posts in this thread. Fall in line bitches...
