Currently a Conference/Event Manager in Reading. Which is not what I thought I'd be doing when I graduated with a degree in History... Chuffed to bits - Just found out I've got a place on a PGCE course starting in September. So next year there will be one more die-hard United supporting primary school teacher in the Reading area. So f*cking relieved. Been treading water in my current job for far too long. Teaching is what I've always wanted to do.

Interesting thread. I am a recruitment consultant with my area of expertise in the print market. In fact, one of my clients makes the large graphics that are seen outside Old Trafford. I went for a meeting with them last month. They did this at O.T

Recently found out that my first full length play is going to be produced in November so I guess I'm now a professional writer!

I'm a Powerline wroker by trade. Finished my 4 year apprenticeship at 20. I've moved into a bring as fuck office job that pays really well. I just read football sites all day.
Just about to buy some recording equiptment to record my songs. I'm not in the music scene enough these days to start a band, also don't have time & can't give up my wage so hopefully i could be a part time muscian or something.
If none of that works I'm heading bush to find some cheap land & build a nice cheap house on for half my current mortgage so i'm not a slave to the wage for the rest of my life.

Cheers lads. jim, I'd love to and that would be the dream eventually but I have to stay in my part-time job for now to pay bills and for school trips etc. As with anything, the money isn't great when you are starting off and you have to pay your dues. @jay, I've started on plays as the theatre is what I know best. I've downloaded software that formats TV and film screenwriting as the layout is different. I've been approached to write the dramatised sections of a documentary that may get made later in the year. So that would be my first foray into writing for the screen. I'm certainly interested in writing for TV and film though.

read some Geoff Thompson stew, particularly the book Shapeshifter. he's a doorman/floor sweeper turned bafta winning writer, if you haven't already heard of him. that book would be perfect for you. geoffthompsoninspired.com/videos/ [page 2 'creating your reality']

Some days it's the greatest job in the world and some days you'll want to trade it all in for some boring desk job. I've tried a few different grades, but my current grade 6 assignment is right where I want to be.

So, just out of curiosity and as a way to get to know forum members a little better - what do you guys do for a living? I'll start us off. I'm currently busy with my Masters degree in Industrial Microbiology at Stellenbosch University, just east of Cape Town Ps. If any of you haven't been as far south as SA, especially Europeans, I'd recommend it! (Cheap, beautiful, great climate and a lively, passionate populous ) Dead end 9-5 admin too!! As it happens i've acutally been to Stellenbosch to the wine gardens a couple of times whilst on rugby tours in SA. Granted, that was some time ago now though as i was still in school/college playing against other schools.
