So, just out of curiosity and as a way to get to know forum members a little better - what do you guys do for a living? I'll start us off. I'm currently busy with my Masters degree in Industrial Microbiology at Stellenbosch University, just east of Cape Town Ps. If any of you haven't been as far south as SA, especially Europeans, I'd recommend it! (Cheap, beautiful, great climate and a lively, passionate populous )

that sounds a big-time heavy degree you are studying for there jayran i've spent the last several years landscaping and worked for a small firm who looked after the village where i live, glorified council workers basically. they were good enough to put me through 2 of the 4 chainsaw courses so i'm a semi-qualified tree surgeon. i quit in jan last year hence why i'm on here so much and just been doing casual work as and when. i'm looking into maybe doing something else at some point soon because i fancy a change, although i enjoy working outdoors so i will always take on private/weekend work where poss, or help out mates who are doing the same thing. and i want to do the remaining tree courses. the problem is i'm enjoying dossing too much i'm 28 years old though so it can't go on for much longer

I'd love to just travel the world but hey, at least it's something to work for! I've recently started looking into domain trading after seeing the money that moves o there for basically nothing and I've gotta tell you - I'm excited!

Atlantis, what are the odds mate!
I'm also specializing in genetics, in a yeast biotechnology lab atm. Specifically genetic engineering for bioethanol production.
What are you into these days?

Biofuels? Good fer ye - that's where the money is! I did my undergrad research in a yeast biotech lab as well. But at the moment I'm in oncology, specifically looking at mitotic events and oncogenic proteins (kinases more specfically). Nice to know that's someone like me! Maybe there's more on board the forum

Just started 2 months ago. Hope I don't go mad. Fantastic to see so many biotechnologists here though !
