Judging by the first couple of pages there are a few on here looking for a postdoc Aye, they must be done by now. Nothing that cerebral from me though, but I have read a book or two this decade

Interesting stuff. Is the industry still in a comparative low with regards to film numbers? What was the side business? I had planning permission for a micro brewery but then the recession hit and we couldn’t afford to do it. Still got a hankering to build one. Got a few friends in film and TV industry. Tough business to be in. My pal is a director on Eastenders, never watch it though 😊👍 Have you edited any titles we’d know?

My main partner had a meltdown and walked away. The zoning rules are really stringent in Los Angeles county. We also had factors like being forced to rent a building instead of buy it, and accepting economic development "overlays" [exemptions to zoning laws] that may or may not get continued. There were a lot of risk factors. I've worked on a bunch of movies, either as an editor or an assistant editor. Titles you may have heard of - and that I will admit to - would be: Waiting For Guffman, Mighty Ducks 3, Halloween H20 [the one where Jamie Lee Curtis came back and it was Josh Hartnett's and Michelle Williams' first movie], Joyride, The Rookie, The Alamo, 30 Days Of Night, The Fourth Kind, Evidence, The Remaining, The Phoenix Incident. I've got one coming out October 12th called I Still See You. 30 days of night?really?loved that one

30 days of night?really?loved that one It was a fun one. The director is an English guy named David Slade and he did an impression of "Don" from Sexy Beast that had me in hysterics. Really smart, funny, misanthropic dude. I never heard the c-word so much before or since! David then did one of the Twilight movies and kept his original editor, also an English guy but A LIVERPOOL FAN. David hated that we talked football all day long. It's a weird business. You work like 12 hour days with someone and you're in the trenches with them, available 24/7 with texts and calls and emails, and then when the show ends it's like you never knew each other. Friendships are very strange. I send them a yearly email, which is about par for the course. Yeah, but how was the sea?

Yeah we had the plans, the permissions, the branding (to a degree), the training, the contacts etc. just needed two good years of business in the gallery when the recession hit. The building (an extension to our house got built as a B&B instead which my wife now runs. Think I've seen a few of them films though. I did some work on 'Tumult' a short movie that got nominated for Cannes but didn't win. Worth checking out for a wee bit of fun. I was the Unit manager.

Yeah, but how was the sea? Like this. Not great. You've still got sand. All the beaches in Adelaide are losing their sand to sea level rise.

Very under appreciated film that I think will age well. If I ever write a screen play, you will be the first person I send it to.

If I ever write a screen play, you will be the first person I send it to. I remember about Joey Gordon Levitt that he was a star for Third Rock from The Sun, and although he was in for only like 1 or 2 days shooting he made about $350,000 for his role. That was about what I would make in 7 years (back then). People would say “he’s good” and I’d think he fucking better be for that amount! And he wasn’t even an egregious example. I did a Hilary duff film where she got 4 million for a week’s shoot. i used to like Joseph Gordon Levitt when I was a kid because of that show. He struggled for quite a few years after that. Cameo appearances in small movies. Around about the time of that Batman movie he was in everything.
