You'll love the Maldives If I went again I'd definitely do a PADI course here and do some scuba diving out there - if not just snorkelling is amazing - get yourself a cheap underwater camera (I got one for $20) - the island I went to was Thudufushi - run by Italians and there are dozens of resorts out there now to suit all tastes and activities I wish I had pics but the ex-wife has them all (along with most of my cash) I've not heard of that one, will take a look. We go to Meeru in the north male atoll. No shoes, no news. Love it. There is a boat called the yasawa princess which takes you to loads of different islands, Deffo on the bucket list. You don't need to be a diver neither as the snorkeling is amazing too.

Certainly got a lot of cons in Britain Prisons are overflowing If I had the cash I'd go and live on a remote island off Scotland or Ireland ... as long as I could get cable you know, one of the major things I look at when looking to move (Rent or Buy (every 6 months )) is the availability and speed of broadband - I can live without TV Well you wouldn't want to live where I do. No broadband. Just ADSL. Not sure if you use the same words but yeah. I'm not even on ADSL. Hopefully get it next year when my extremely expensive wifi contract is up.

That's one thing where this country is very good - good coverage from Virgin and they keep upgrading the broadband for free - last upgrade was 80Mbit download to 120 and they're rolling out 150Mbit at the moment Maybe my "river" will stop freezing just before we score Sky and BT are pretty poor in comparison but still better than a lot of countries I read somewhere that the Japanese have really mental download speeds - about 1Tbit or close to it

It will take years to reach everywhere and there's always talk of it being cancelled.

I am careful buddy but I think this site is ok to show photos of the ones you love. We cannot even pick our nose or scratch our arse now days without worrying about what you said or posted. I would not have put this photo(s) on Facebook as my daughter would have kicked up almighty shit.

Just discovered this thread- great to get to know some of the members a bit better.
I'm a Business Director at a major ad agency based in Canary Wharf, London. Specialise in Digital Marketing- been in the field for about 7 years now. Enjoy what I do but I like new challenges so I'm studying for a Data Analyst degree on the side (looking to do my own thing one day).
Old man was an airline pilot (now retired) so I've followed him around the world growing up. UK > Pakistan > Singapore > Canada > Singapore > Australia (went to uni in Melbourne) > UK . Quite a ride but no matter what the timezone, always managed to watch United.

That's quite a thread. Look how many people used to post in here and how diverse/impressive they are.
I graduated from Law School. Today I'd say I'm an academic as I dedicated my entire graduation to study beyond the classroom in groups connected to the ministry of Science and Technology, published a few papers. I wanted to be a diplomat, but I've changed my mind to work with environmental law and the disciplines that cross with it the most - urban law, mining law, land law and one research dedicated to the traditional communities and indigenous lands in a part of Amazon.
Nowadays I teach Latin to altar boys and girls at the church I attend, I am currently taking the equivalent to the M1 degree in France (full LL.M I wasn't mature enough although that's the next step and there's some family pressure as well. Luckily I've always enjoyed it) and I get some cases as a Lawyer, but so far not really into it.

I'm very boring. Born in Manchester, only moved 20 miles away so just about still in greater Manchester. Worked in shops, as a nursery nurse and the civil service x 2, including the DSS and the Insolvency service. Trained as a nurse and did that for over 10 years and now bringing up a family and don't work. Hoping to go back into work at some point but haven't a clue what.
My life could have been very different had my mum not bottled a job promotion with the civil service to go and move to London when I was in primary school. My mum was a single parent and my grandma refused to go with us so it never happened. I often wished she had gone, grandma aside. My grandma had 6 other kids to keep an eye on her she would have been fine.

What a cracking thread !! So, I'm from near Manchester but have lived in the far North of Scotland for 25 years. I studied at Salford Tech College (Spatial design) but became a self employed stone carver for about 15 years. Now driving a mini bus and I'm a retained fire fighter too. Over the years I've done loads of different jobs from car valeting, working in a petrol station, bar work, fruit picking, farm labouring, security guard, fish farming, charity development, dry stone walling, ran a gallery as well........loads of different work and bloody crap at all of them Married for 21 years, no kids but a string of labradors over the years. Live on the NC500 if anyone knows what that is.

Finally kickstarted my dream of the RAF a few months back and was due to start basic training last week (passed selection tests/interviews etc) but a few days earlier I ruptured my ACL and tore my miniscul cartilage, any form of ACL injury means the military flat out rejects you for life. So 3 months physio then ACL reconstruction and miniscul tear repair for me! So now looking for a job if any of you lot have a spare, well paid easy job knocking about ;p That was 2014, what you doing now mate?? How's the ACL injury ?
