Had to put this in here, the diving thread. The ex-diver (I hope). As I said before, which I hated to say, we do miss this guy at the moment and came off the bench last night and cracked his 100. Well done Ash, keep the diving bit for the swimming pool and play the way you did before you were injured.

Ashley Young @youngy18 7m7 minutes ago Forever and ever, we'll follow the boys, of Man United, The Busby Babes #flowersofmanchester
Ashley Young is really turning me around this season.

I think the change in United fans' perception of Ashley Young this season serves as a reminder of how the fans of this club will embrace any player who:
1) Respects our club, our history and our traditions (see Bestie's post above) 2) Works their socks off to keep improving and if needed re-invent themselves (wingback role, crossing with his left foot) 3) Plays in the United way; attacking, aggressive and willing to put a shift in for their team-mates (pace on the wings, performances this season) 4) Learns from their mistakes (haven't heard much about his diving this season have we?)
It's not rocket science. It is the ultimate privilege for a professional footballer to don that red shirt for this club and I believe if a player is getting stick on these forums or in the stands he's falling short on at least one of the above.
Hope he picks up where he left off before the injury. I've given him stick before but I'm fully backing the lad.

Even though he improved some aspects (mainly the defensive ones), I would still like for the club to ship him off come end of the season. He'll be 30 next July, injuries are far too frequent and is already losing the most important attribute that a winger has, pace. On top of having outrageously high wages for a player of his average quality.
LvG worked wonders on some of his contribution. Doubled up his successful tackles, clearances and dribbles, huge improvement on his interceptions. Even improved his passing and long balls a bit. However, his offensive contribution is very low, just one assist in same amount of minutes as last season when he had 1 assist and 2 goals. Mainly because of the position he now occupies surely.
Unfortunately, IMO, even though he is a United supporter and seems to love this club, he never even closely reached the level of quality required for a United player and now that he is slowly getting into his thirties, I don't think he ever will. Contact is up July 2016, so next summer transfer window, we should get rid of his 118k per week wages, especially if LvG switches to a 4-4-2 Diamond where wingers or wingbacks are not very desired personnel.

In fairness to Young, I do think he's done really well for us over the past few games.
As makedon is saying in his post above, I do think that LVG has worked wonders on the lad to a certain degree.

Young and Blind make up the best left flank in the league right now.

Young and Blind make up the best left flank in the league right now. And Fellani. His targeting of RBs and RCBs has been huge in this. See the 1st and 3rd goals yesterday.

I think nobody in the league except maybe Matic can handle the physical aspect of Fellaini. Nippy, agile players might give him a problem but if it comes down to it there's maybe 1 or 2 players who can handle him. His chest is made of fucking velcro, I lost count how many times he plucked the ball out of the air and passed it to an open man. That strategy is yielding dividends now.

Ivanovic will give him a good run for his money at the weekend. Even if he can't beat Fellainio in the air, he'll match him for physicality.

Disliked Young for a while initially, mainly as he seemed one-dimensional, expensive and he was signed in the shadow of the Ronaldo shaped void, which made it seem underwhelming.
But really, for a guy who's attended away games with the fans, he gets United more than most and he's become an invaluable asset.
