Anyone else have the feeling that this one will be announced soon? Hopefully, the whole rumour cranked up after Dortmund had tied up the league so it fits that negotiations would have begun then. The fee's being suggested are lower than I might have thought. That should leave plenty to go and smash Martinez buy out clause, job done.

Ok. Here's the problem. We don't even come close to some of the fluid, pass and move football on display in that video. After 3 months of passing to runners who aren't there, expecting the one-two from players who don't even know what one is, and attempting flicks and tricks to players who just give the ball away, the brilliance on display will be coached out of him and Phelan et al will turn him into the new Park. Energy and running galore.
What we need is more old, slow and immobile guys who aren't used to playing actual pass and move football. Perhaps Charlie Adam is available?

Yeah, that incisive fluid attacking football we played against Everton bored the fuck out of me! Damn you Phelan!

The thing that I'm agreeing on regarding the coaching staff. This summer, I really hope we get a new No. 2. Phelan just doesn't seem to make the cut. Sometimes I wonder if we're faulting at the tactical / coaching front which makes us falter and not the players or lack thereof. If we get Shinji in, I really, really, really hope none of the creativity and explosiveness is bashed out of him... just like Rooney had it bashed out of him. If we play Cleverley, Carrick / New Box to Box Midfielder, Kagawa, Nani and Valencia with Rooney up front, I would expect something dynamic to happen. So I'm still hopeful.

Half agree, but we have played some of the 1-2 football at times, but mostly i felt that the communication was not proper, when we did our attacking was good everton game more recently. But 1/2 games dont cut it, there really needs to be emphasis on this on the training ground to let it flourish and play to players and team strength. most players ability seems to go down - Young's free kicks, anderson's movement, rooney's creativity. we seem to be more hit and run football not sure if that will work with other teams getting technically gifted players.

Borussia Dortmund's Shinji Kagawa will wait until the conclusion of the DFB Pokal final on May 12 before making a decision on his future.
The 23-year-old is said to be targeted by Premier League veterans Manchester United, who have reportedly offered a per-year salary of €6 million. Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke revealed earlier this week that Kagawa is no longer unsellable after the player balked on signing a contract extension.
"I haven't made a decision yet," Kagawa told Bild when asked where he'll play next season. "At the earliest it will be after the [Pokal] final.
"I've listened a lot to the supporters and to my team-mates, and I'm really touched by what I've heard. I'll make my decision only after discussing things carefully with my agent."
The Japan international also denied that bad blood remained between him and team-mate Robert Lewandowski after German media published quotes from a Nikkei interview that appeared to accuse the 20-goal scorer of selfishness.
"I was surprised that my interview was printed in this form," Kagawa responded. "Some of what was written was incorrect, but I've learned from what happened.
"I've already talked to [Lewandowski] about it personally, and the matter's been settled for both of us."

He's exciting but I don't know, like others have said, he'll only flourish if the rest of the team is equally quick, incisive and free-flowing. They can be with someone energetic in central midfield like Cleverley or Anderson but it's if one of those isn't available that it becomes a problem.
Also, perhaps I'm being cynical but it does kind of seem like United have gone for the cheap option yet again and seen dollar signs with tapping into the Japanese market.

He's incredibly talented guys, and he's probably got better feet and more creative vision than anyone in our current midfield setup.
He's underrated compared to Gotze simply because he's not German. We've not gone for the cheap option either I reckon, the timing has made him available for alot less than usual. He'd fetch at least 20 mil if his contract wasn't running out end of next season.
IDEAL signing this to kick off our summer as It'd leave us with a bit of cash to spend on a top quality ball winner/box to box type player, a defender and a striker.

You know what, I was thinking this exact same thing while watching this video. Trying to imagine who would be on the end of the through passes, the fluid attacking play and be able to keep hold of the ball. While this guy clearly has great technical ability he will be relying on Welbeck, Nani and players around him such as Carrick/Clevs to play with the same high tempo and fluidity to their game. Something I don't think Carrick will cope with and Welbeck and Nani I don't think have the quality to latch onto these passes and slot home. I know that sounds harsh but I think Welbeck has the tendancy to lose his touch slightly when put in, something that would happen a lot with Kagawa. I agree that he may end up having this attacking threat played out of him like Park and Ando.

Well if what Berbatov's agent said is true then Fergie is looking to evolve into this slick quick passing game so hopefully it's true! Hard to judge whether that's the case when we've not even signed him yet, Fergie could yet spring a surprise or two!

Why couldn't Welbeck and Hernandez be on the end of those searching through balls?

Yeah, we have to start somewhere lads. It's a means to get where we want to be, we won't suddenly just have a new style of play without actually getting players that are able to initiate and execute it.
