Did anyone else Hear Adrian Durham claim on talkshite last night that he had it on good authority that we had enquired with Arsenal about his availability? Probably very little truth in it,also I doubt we would be able to compete with the Bertie's if he became available. This is how the thread started. Unbelievable. Never thought this would happen at the end of last season. Wonder what the odds where at the bookies at that stage. 20/1 maybe? Shocked to be fair, but what a great signing.

www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/19296077Robin van Persie in £24m move to Man Utd from Arsenal Robin van Persie has completed his £24m move from Arsenal to Manchester United. The Dutch striker, 29, has signed a four-year deal and could make his debut at Everton on Monday. He said: "It's an honour to sign for Manchester United."I am looking forward to following in the footsteps of so many great strikers, bringing my experience and playing my part to help the team compete for the biggest trophies in the game. I can't wait to get started." Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson said: "Robin is a world-class striker with a proven record in England and in European football. "His talents need no introduction to our fans. He has scored a number of goals against us in some classic battles with his former club. His movement, finishing and all-round ability are outstanding." Van Persie announced in July he would not extend his current deal, which was due to expire in June 2013. It is understood Arsenal were willing to make Van Persie their highest paid player ever, but never actually offered him a new contract. Juventus and Manchester City also bid for the striker , but it is understood that of the three, United were the only side Van Persie would have considered joining.United will pay £22.5m, with a further £1.5m one-off bonus to follow if they win a Premier League or Champions League title in the next four years. The Netherlands international scored 44 goals in 57 games for club and country last season. Van Persie was named Professional Footballers' Association and Football Writers' player of the year, but scored only once as the Netherlands were eliminated at the group stage of Euro 2012. --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- Fucking right Robin. Gentlemen, this could be the start of a beautiful friendship. . .

Never thought this would happen at the end of last season. Wonder what the odds where at the bookies at that stage. 20/1 maybe? Shocked to be fair, but what a great signing. Yeh never seemed likely, but as I said a couple of times it could have happened if 1) were happy to 'overpay' 2) he really want to come here. And its seems both of them were true. Even saw something yesterday suggesting he knew he wanted to come here since January. Still feel a little unreal, even if some of my earlier posts were glass half empty, I've been a fan of him for some time even before his last 18 months just the injuries that held him back. I'm still baffled Real weren't in for him. They could do with a proper lead the line striker, Benzema showed some form last season but he's now got that court case going on which wont help him. Real could have got a genuine quality striker and judging by Arsene's comments they would have probably accepted a slightly lower bid from a foreign club than him come to us, unsurprisingly. With Reals tapping up, maybe they enquired but he did indeed just wanted to come here.

I don't suppose that 31 on his chest means a great deal.

Nah, the numbers in training are quite often just any old numbers, not the squad numbers
