The Sun is claiming(not a quote in sight)we are prepared to sell Nani if he stalls on a contract extension, apparently worth £130k pw, with the club valuing him at £30m if he doesnt play ball. www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/4321351/Manchester-United-will-listen-to-offers-for-Nani-if-talks-stall.htmlWhile he is no doubt inconsistent, he is a World beater on his day IMO and I want us to keep hold of him, he always speaks well of the Club and of his ambition to stay here long term. Are United trying to raise transfer funds for the summer? Or are we smartly avoiding the conundrum that Arsenal seem to enjoy every summer?

Exactly. The Sun. Anyway, the board shot themselves in the foot when Rooney held them ransom. If he's worth 180k, Nani surely deserves 130k, as does Valencia. Vida can easily demand around 160. Thats what happens when you break the wage structure for one player.

You have to move with the times and pay the going rate(as ridiculous as it is) or we fall behind.I could see us flogging Nani for £30m and spending £40-50m.

@ Areba
130,000 a week for Nani is more than reasonable, I think you forgetting he's not a top player or world beater.
Were very much with the times, look at the wages Rooney and Vidic is getting.

£130k is a steal for a player of his calibre. Who could we get who's better and cheaper?

I meant that when we broke the wage structure for Rooney. I think Nani is worth it, we have been paying him £60k pw(we were paying JOS and Wes £60k a week) and he hasnt moaned, publically anyway, thats what Arsenals reserves get.

I just think that 130,000 is more than enough for him, he has huffed and puffed but never really blown anyones house down. Offer him the 130,000 then promise him a contract rise when he steps it up.
I'm a stingy bastard! I know.

if we let nani go, then who will be left for Rooney to get pissed of with from time to time.. just saying
we defo need him, inconsistent but still there are not many like him and if we go for another sure we will be asked to pay 40-50 mil.

Badly inconsistent. We got £30 million for him I'd sell, depending on who to. He'd fit in well in the Serie A but I reckon he'd want to go to Spain.
Oh, and who could we bring in that's better? I can think of a few. Hazard, being one.

Nobody's denying that Nani has been inconsistent, but he's most definitely got more positives than negatives as far as i'm concerned.
He's still only 25 and i can see him getting better.
I wouldn't sell him not on your nelly.

I'd sell for £30m if we had anyone else as owners, but there's no point selling your big assets when you know the money is never going to be reinvested.

This is crazy, not a hope in hell should we sell him, as said above its The Sun ffs, they'd say the grass is blue just to get people to try and beleive them. Id sell more than half the squad before Id even consider it.
Granted hes one of the most frustrating players to watch but by christ when hes on form can he change a game. Does this mean whenever someone has a quiet season (even thought bes been injured a lot) that we question whether to sell him or not?.
