^^well if we sell Nani (our best winger) then we'll hardly be well covered with wingers. Although inconsistent Nani is arguably the only player capable of producing pure magic and people often forget he (along with Berba) dragged us for more than half of last season and he's had many injury problems since but still produced decent numbers. Selling him would be a step in the wrong direction in my opinion. I wouldn't go so far as to call him our best winger. Yes, he is unplayable on his day but that day is all too infrequent. I'd say Valencia and Young are just as good in terms of consistency. Also, with Kagawa arriving we should have decent options on the flanks. Park, Welbeck and Giggs can provide adequate cover in an injury crisis. I wouldn't like to see Nani sold per se. But if the deal involves a wonderful player like Marchisio who is the kind of signing we've been crying out for it looks like a very tempting option. One catch though - Marchisio seems to be Juve through and through and is already a club legend. Not sure if he would entertain the idea of a transfer. No. No they really can't. No game time for either, ever. I want to love him but its fucking hard because he's totally inconsistent. I hope the club ain't considering giving him a pay rise because thats not what he needs. ^^ This. ^^ A few years ago I was trying to convince everybody that Nani could become as devastating or better than Ronaldo for us. That ship has well and truly sailed.

Yet Nani obliterated Ronaldo over the first 100 games. If something happens with Nani at the Euros, like it did for Ronaldo in 06, and the penny drops, look out!
Nani fits this high tempo, pressing, pass and move style far more than Valencia.

I'd like to see him play as part of a front 3, has looked brilliant when he's played for Portugal there. It's a tough one though, as people have said he can be inconsistent but if we did sell him for say £30m, could we really get someone in who's equally as good who could be more consistent? There aren't many wingers about who are as good and available, could end up spending a rook on someone like Muniain / James Rodriguez but they'd be even more inconsistent at first (at least you'd expect them to be).

Nani has said he will consider offers to leave Manchester United after contract talks stalled. The winger, who moved to Old Trafford from Sporting Lisbon in 2007, signed his most recent deal just over two years ago and has two further seasons remaining. "I have had five seasons at Manchester United and have won all the titles," Nani said. "Now I am really happy but I don't know about my future. Now I will study opportunities. Football is not only about England or Spain. It is possible to enjoy success in other countries. My agent is waiting on news about United. We have presented a counter-offer and now we are waiting on an offer from the club." Nani is preparing to play at Euro 2012 with Portugal and made his remarks in an interview with the country's television station RTP. He also reflected on the threat posed by him and the former United winger Cristiano Ronaldo in the national side and on finishing second to Manchester City last month. "It was a great pain to miss the Premier League title in the final minutes of the match. City were incredible with their luck. I can only hope that this Euro Championship is my Euro, and I am working hard for that with Portugal. My challenge is to be the best, be the No1 and show that on the field. Myself and Cristiano make up two of the best wingers in the world and our statistics for our club show that."

The Italy thing cropped up a couple of years ago, looks like it might be back.
I don't want to lose him 100%, however if he's looking at playing over there then now would be the best time to sell. He has 2 years left on his contract, next summer we'd get no more than 10-15 million for him, as a player approaching his last final year.
Player swap deals pretty much never happen, so wouldn't read too much into that, but if we get 30 million or so for him, then that should give us enough to bring 2 or 3 more quality players in, a replacement for Nani, a centre mid, maybe another striker now Keane is out for the season it would appear.
As I say, really hope he stays, but if his head is being turned and he might not sign a new deal, then it would have to be now we sell.

Nani should stay, period. He fits the high tempo passing game very well like someone else said. This boy is not consistent, but he is class. And he is young. Absolutely needs to stay, his skill is on a level Valencia can never hope to match, no offense.

We'd be silly to let Nani go. He's a player we should and could build a strong team around.

We need to keep Nani at all costs. Cannot afford to be letting such a talent go after how patient the fans and the club were with him before he was a prized asset.

Considering we're having trouble attracting players to sign, we'd be crazy to offload Nani. I suspect this is the Rooney affect trickling down. He opened a Pandora's box, when he held the club to ransom.

Ronaldo plays wide-left for Madrid. He isn't a centre forward.

Could be the effect of PSG trying to pay more or as suggested trickle down effect of Rooney. I would want to lose NANI , consistent or not he would combine well with Rooney and young and Kagawa(fingers crossed) to play the high tempo passing game and he is still good. Taking a punt of Munian or Rodriguz at the cost of Nani is silly thought.
