Lahm only became so good because they played through his flaws and ironed them out, the twins have the potential to possibly surpass Lahms ability but we need to play them, without experience they will not grow.

you think the twins can be better than lahm? that's a tall order I would say about 5 8" the lot of them! Yes why not.Lahm was better known for his attacking abilities than his defensive capabilities early on in his career and Rafael already has more experience at the top level than Lahm did at his age. Fabio has always been regarded as the more talented twin and has been unlucky with injuries so far.I hope his loan deal to Benfica materialises and he gets a full season of first team Football behind him.Hopefully then he can come back to us ready to play for more than 2 games running.

I have the same thoughts about Fabio, with what we have seen of him little as it is compared to rafael , i am pretty sure regular football will benefit Fabio, He will be a crackling one that i am sure off.

Meh, good player but not great defensively.
For 12 mil I'm not for this one.

Baines is decent enough but he's not worth 12 million, sure we could find better than him for that money.

I think Baines is a better player than most people give him credit for.
We may be going down this route as we could be completely priced out of other potential targets.

I can't think of a better left-back we could get for £12 million to be honest.

I'd rather get Cissokho on loan, I don't see the need to spend 12 million on a left back that could be invested elsewhere.

yup the loan for ally or just keep fabio, but 12 million is alot especially if its for evra competition rather than a replacement.

While it would be nice to have excellent service from the left resume and of course a threat from free kicks, Im not convinced on him defensively and if we were to spend cash on a full back I would prefer someone with a bit more height, hoof merchants have been targeting our fullback positions for years now due to our short arse fullbacks.
At the age of 27( 28 in Dec), signing him would also be the end for Fabio, which I think would be a mistake.
Someone like Matthuiw (Valencia) who has height, loves bombing forward and has a good delivery.Plus at his age he would not impede Fabio or Blackets development.Or loaning Cissokko as has been mentioned.
