Bringing in Baines would mean the door's shut on the face of Fabio and other youngsters who are knocking. but Fabio is not 'knocking' and nor is anyone else Jim, gotta disagree with u there. we have/had someone knocking (Fryers), but for whatever reason his contract will be up in a couple of weeks and we seem content to let him go. and based on SAF comments during the year he was one of our better prospects.

how is fryers knocking if he's not got anywhere near the first team? even more so if fergie is content to let him go as you say.
players who are 'knocking' are the likes of smalling and jones. vida will need to find form after injury, rio's age is against him. even johnny evans place is not guaranteed with smalling and jones looking potentially the center half partnership of club and country for years to come. i'm certain fergie knows they are both center halves. there is none of this pressure on evra.

In all fairness nothing against the youngsters but Id far much prefer the likes of Baines to come straight in than have several youngsters knocking at the door and when they get their chances they fail to prove their worth i.e Fabio. Fryers is meant to be going out on loan next season anyway as far as im aware. Id prefer Top quality cover straight away for Evra.
Look at our RB position, its been out of sorts since Nevs retired and weve had "on the door players" trying to fill that for god knows how long.

Fryers made 6 appearances this year, most of which came b4 it became public knowledge of his contract impasse. Ah la Tevez, Pogba (for a time), and to a lesser extent Berba, IMO once the club realised that the contract situation was going south, he stopped getting game time. I dont take his lack of opportunities as an assessment of his skills.

But when ever Fabio's been given a chance he has done well i'd Say. He has been good going forward and when defending also. Also he does not go into challenges using his hands like his bro Rafael. Fabio's been given Very few chances to really prove himself IMO. I'd apologise though if i am wrong here.

Fryers made 6 appearances this year, most of which came b4 it became public knowledge of his contract impasse true. maybe he would have got more opportunities then if not for the contract stuff. all the same, i didn't see him as a player knocking on the door for evras spot.

Its not because Ferguson won't give Rafael an extended run its because everytime Rafael cements a place in the first team he fucks it up with silly mistakes.
Against A Bilbao he was shocking, falling asleep for there final goal. Against Everton he was at fault for two goals, there two major games where he fell asleep.
His attention to the game is poor, he needs to work on his focus.

"Europa League" and "major games". Roffle, pull the other one. (Though they should be, they aren't.)

If he can have his temperament in check , i think he will be good for us for a long time to come, he is still young and already has been in pressure situations and played against some really good opponents.
Bu he needs to however stop sleeping off in the middle of the game and not uses his hands every time he goes for tackles.
