Warriors from ages past, are often depicted with adornments, so I guess that past civilizations considered it 'manly'. An odd term, as every male has manly attributes, as do many females. Rugged, tough or downright fucking dangerous is the message that those warriors markings exuded.
As for taking the approach that jewelry is for girls, then what about fashion? A nice cardi or snazzy pair of sneakers speaks of a desire to look good and fit in. Looking good, is it only for girls? No.

I never said it was. I was responding to Johnboy's comments about girls wearing ear rings oops, my bad I'm very happy to say i have 0 Tattoo's or Piercings what so ever Cool story, bro! So a thread open's up and the question at the end of the OP says "anyone else", I say "Nope" and get sarcasm from the transfer rumour drip - you should stick to spouting bullshit in the rumours section sunshine.

[/quote] I think it's more the way you said it. The 'very happy to say' bit could quite easily sound judgemental. But it's fine. Piercings and tats aren't everyone's cup of tea. Is it that you don't like them at all, or that you just wouldn't get one, if I may ask?

I do quite like them to be honest, they can look amazing if done correctly but i don't think they'd suit me, so I've not got any

No interest in getting any what so ever myself. Most i've seen have are rather rubbish, you have to really get a top notch one for someone with real talent for it to look good. And then theres the inevitability it will look shit at some point later on.

I've got 3 tats, not visible to eveyone though, upper arms and my back. Didn't get them to show off, got them for myself.
The old "What about when you're older and you have these old tats?" argument just doesn't wash anymore. 30, 40 years ago tats were rare, so old dudes with tats look a bit crap today. But every second person you see today has tats, so in 40 years time it's not going to look like anything to see a bunch of 70 years olds with tats, because 50% of them will have them.
Never understood why peoples appearances generate any debate, what business is it of someone else's how you choose to dress or look? So what if you have piercings or tats, it's your body do what you like.
Is everyone suppose to look exactly the same? Sure George Orwell depicted that world in a rather depressing light.

If you think "will I like this when I'm older?" about everything you'll never do anything. You only get one life so why not enjoy it? If you want to get tattoos, sod it, do it.

I'm not sure if that was vaguely directed at me, I'm not debating anything, just a difference of opinion. I'm quite happy with each to their own. There's just not a single part of me that ever wanted one, just don't really view it as an enhancement. Judging from the circles I move in, I've always seemed to be the minority anyway, more people I know seem to have tattoos than not. So 'being the same' thing doesn't wash with me at all, not that it bothers me either way, just saying its a bad point

Just in general, the way people judge on appearance. If someone has a skinhead, or dreadlocks, or tats, or piercings, or whatever. Look how you wanna look, it doesn't matter in anyway. How you behave and treat others is the important thing.

Still planning my sleeve. Hoping to get it done first half of next year.
As for piercings, I've just started stretching my lobes. Boy is it a painful process.
