Spurs will not accept 25 million for him, simple.
They rejected a lot more last summer, why drop their demands now?

I'd certainly take that, but as Dazjoe says the fee looks a little low for Daniel Levy. It is the Sun though, maybe their just trying to create the new saga for us this summer now that Hazard and Kagawa are sorted.

Another year on, another season not in the European Cup, another year less of his contract, and questions over Redknapp's future.
They have reasons.

They didn't have champs league football last summer, still rejected 38 million for him. Levy plays hard ball, he'd lose face after his posturing to let Modric leave "On the cheap" as it were. You're looking at least 35 million for him. Whether anyone thinks he's worth that is a different discussion, but that's what Levy would demand. And he's contracted I belive till 2016, so the one year less is nothing, still got 4 years on there.

You'd also have to look at Levy letting him come here. He'd be the 3rd big player we've signed from them in 6 years.
Arsenal get mocked for now just being City's feeder club. Levy is trying to make Spurs genuine title contenders and a regular in the champions league, he doesn't want them to get tagged as nothing more than our feeder club.
Sure he'd far rather see him move abroad than come here if he does accept he has to sell, and I'm sure there would be teams abroad who would come in for him.

Yeh he has quite a long deal. also if Spurs are a lot moe willing to sell, surely theyd try and get an auction going with Chelsea at least. why has their interest cooled? Unless of course Chelsea really pissed them off last summer, we made enquiries but they were simply not willing to sell so we backed off, supposedly. Chelsea instead decided to go public and try and unsettle him, almost successfully. Maybe Spurs hold a grudge.

None of which sit in midfield like Modric, well unless Marin does I barely know about him. Not that I'm saying they dont still want him, just that if the Sun article is somewhat accurate chances are they arent in anymore or have been told to fuck off.

Personally, I think Modric is overrated and aren't getting excited by this at all, however, having given out on the clubs inability to sign actual midfielders capable of controlling a football, I couldn't really complain if this actually happened.
This story is interesting because it includes actual numbers including transfer fees as well as length and value of contract. Usually when the tabloids just make something up, those detail are missing. The Hazard to Chelsea thing broke with the length of contract and suddenly it was done. I've a feeling this might go the same way.
