Some clubs know how to haggle a deal despite being world famous and don't use it as an excuse.

If we're not getting involved here it's because he wants to go to Real, there's no way we wouldn't be interested.

Apparently, Real have agreed a deal and Modric is flying out tonight... 23million plus add on's!! No value?? unlikely they'd do business with us or chelsea at that price.

Levy would want to show that he is real tough and all with the fans , if it was us. But with RM its different.

Depends what those addon's are though doesn't it? Baring in mind they wouldnt take £34mill last year I'm guessing it could be considerable, pushing the deal past £30m.

Spurs were smart not to sell to us. Carrick, berba then Modric, to their fans they would look like our feeder club!

Still think he'd fit United like a glove, but it won't happen. Cleverley's value just went up to about 15-20 million with an England cap.. so we have an under 25 England international alongside Carrick, with Anderson, Giggs, Scholes, Powell and various others for backup. Yes, it depends on others to step up, but thats what United's all about.
Remember Fletcher being my scapegoat for all that was bad about United a few years ago and then he scored against the incredible Chelsea side of the time and we came back to win a few titles the following seasons with Fletch playing fantastically. Looking for more of that from others.

Sir Alex Ferguson wants to sign the man who inspired Manchester United’s elimination from the Champions League.
Red Devils boss Ferguson will try to bring Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric back to the Premier League at the end of the season.
Modric stepped off the substitutes’ bench and turned Real’s last-16 tie against United in the Spanish club’s favour.
The former Tottenham star netted a stunning equaliser 10 minutes after Nani had been controversially sent-off, before Cristiano Ronaldo grabbed the winner.
Modric had previously only netted once since joining Real for £33million from Spurs and was voted La Liga’s worst signing of the season.
United were interested in signing Modric before he moved to Real and have been alerted to the fact the 27-year-old has been going through a hard time in Spain.
Ferguson has claimed he has received no encouragement over a move to re-sign Ronaldo, but Modric may well become available.
Modric is understood to have told friends that he is keen to return to the Premier League and has always been attracted to the prospect of moving to Old Trafford.
Chelsea also tried to sign Modric last summer and will reignite their interest in him, while Manchester City could join the hunt.
Could be a snip at around 18/20 million seeing as he's taken a load of flak in Spain. the uncertainty surrounding Mourinho and the fact that Fergie is an self confessed admirer so wouldn't be surprised to see more noise about this come summer.
Despite the article reeking of tabloid nonsense of course.
If not at least I got to restart a thread for the 1st time eh! lol

Well played on trawling through to find the Modric thread rather than starting a new one though.
