Parker? No thanks. From Spurs, its only Modric I am interested in. Parker fits the TYPE of player we are looking for , but there are better players that do the same job. No to Parker.

A holding midfielder is not something Fergie desires and says we've never had one. So I think we should stop speculating about getting more of a Parker player than a Modric one.

Football has moved on and it's about possession and pressing rather than ball-winning. We should be getting a technical player who can pass, create and score. I admit I'd like someone in there who could tackle also but it shouldn't be the primary skill. There maybe the odd PL game where we need extra protection but that could mean Jones playing deep behind a midfield 2 (eg Kagawa and Carrick) and sacrificing a forward.

we're not gonna stick someone in midfield who sits and defends, you can talk about fletcher but he would get forward and assist rooney, hargreaves would get forward and smash in the free kicks. keane and ince could both play.

a player who can defend around the edge of our box would be great but he needs to get up and down. pairing wilshere [unrealistic as that signing is] with carrick would be perfect.

what kagawa [and modric?] will give us is great mobility and pressing in midfield which is the first line of defence.

I think people misunderstand. We're not talking about a defensive midfielder. We're talking about someone who can actually make a tackle and win the ball back when we don't have it. It has nothing to do with "keeping possession". Nobody keeps 100% possession in a game and we don't have anyone in our current midfield that will win it back for us when we don't have it. We just sit off and invite teams to attack until they lose it.

'Pressing' is fine, but when good teams can pass around that pressing you need a player who will actually go and get the ball, instead of trying to cause a mistake. I don't think anyone wants a Mascherano talentless kicker. Keane got forward but when the ball was coming the other way he was not content to 'press', he wanted the ball back for himself. Do you understand where we're coming from?

Thing is, there's no one like Keane/Ince/Robson anymore. The closest was Essien, and he looks a shadow of the player he was.

TBH, I'd like Modric to come in, even though I'm not his biggest fan and throw Tunnicliffe in at the deep-end before we splash the cash on a player like Tiote, who whilst good at what he does is very limited.

If someone could give me credible assurances Tunnicliffe was going to get a fair shot in plenty of games next season, I would happily stop banging on about his sort and welcome the signing of Modric by learning to cartwheel. Then proceed to cartwheel multiple times around the garden.

Goes without saying Tiote's a more rounded footballer than Scott 'won't be walking when he's 50' Parker.

What I meant was, I'd rather see us give a young, hungry, local lad who's come through the ranks given 20-30 games next season to see if he can cut it before spending £20mill+ on a player like Tiote who'd offer nothing in an attacking sense.

Basically, what I'm trying to say is, I'm a sucker for attacking, flair players.

why does it have to be a spurs player. If we don't get Modric, I'd go for Strootman or Cabaye.

Cabaye can and does all the things Modric does , Strootman we , well most of us agree is someone who will fit into our team right away.

Parker - hell no.

And yeah i go with the point that we need Midfielders who can tackle and get possession and also look to be creative or get the pass to keep the game flowing.

if Nothing works out for us financially. I'd stick in the "Punisher" in the middle , if not tunni/clevers
