dont think Sir Alex is gonna buy him if the price is over 25 mil. anyways, rather see us go for Strootman since we need a DM imo. we still have Carrick and Scholes (for one more year  ), we can look for another creative CM next year i suppose. |

Lose any respect for him if he went to PSG.
The French league is crap, PSG are a nothing club, and he has a massive legendary club like ourselves in for him.
If he turns that down just because he'll get a bit more money over there, then he's not worth a bucket of piss.
Might be a bit harsh, but turning us down for Real or Barca, fair enough.
Even turning us down for City or Chelsea, ok, at least you remain playing in a top league.
But going to France?!
Wait and see how it plays out, but he's a mug if he goes there.

To be fair to him if he did go to PSG I don't think it would be because HE turned us down for them but because WE couldn't match Spurs' asking price. However its all conjecture at this moment.

I do remember a somewhat similar situation with the Beckham transfer. Apparently we wouldn't even listen to Barcelona's offer because Becks was insistent he wanted to move to Madrid as they would be in the Champions League and not Barca. So it didn't matter even if Barca outbid Real. Wonder if Modric can convince Levy that he has his heart set on joining us.

I don't think he has his heart set on joining anyone Ginger, it might just be us romanticizing it. He wants to win things and play in the CL, that's all. He wanted to go to Chelsea last season so there's no real reason to believe he wants to play for United, we're just likely suitors, along with other clubs.

Here's the thing. If Modric comes to us, he'll be even more hyped than he already is. However, I think he could actually reach the level that he is currently hyped at. Which is pretty spetacular.
Still wouldn't be my first priority at all.

I get that PSG can outbid us, but he isn't a slave, or a mindless drone.
If he has no intention of going there, he can refuse to go.
Kaka told City to do one then joined Real for half the price City had offered, Milan had to just take a 50 million pound hit on the deal.
Levy doesn't have to accept a lesser bid for him, but he doesn't have to sign for a shit club if he doesn't want to.

I would rather see Parker arrive from Spurs than Modric.  I could see the logic if you said Sandro. But Parker?? The guy has one or two years left in him at best. Modric and Carrick would be the best midfield partnership in the Prem. No one would be able to get near them. Not even Yaya Toure. |

You guys are missing his point, Parker is a purely defensive player (better than Modric defensively), what many think we need.
I agree, to and extent, I'd just like a tough tackler who can move forward too. I don't think he means we should go in for Parker either, Modric to United is fairly unlikely as it stands anyway.
