He's not a player I'd expect to disposes an opposing central midfielder ginger, that's all I mean. He can make a tackle and win the ball, but he's not going to make ball winning challenges throughout the game. ''quite a few" - few being the operative word. Don't get me wrong man, he can make a challenge here and there but I reckon Modric has more in his locker in terms of interceptions, dispossessing opponents and actually winning the ball on more than one occasion during a match, he can also move around more and for longer, add that to a defensively orientated midfield partner and we'll definitely gain a bit in terms of defence. Agree. I just think some people go overboard and buy into the media bullshit that Scholesy is the worst tackler in the history of tackling, That would be Titus Bramble! Agree on Modric as well. That is primarily down to the fact that he's much younger, with more stamina and mobility.

since Scholes can barely tackle Misconception again. He's a nasty little bugger. The mistimed challenges are on purpose to rattle the opponents. Read Jamie Redknapp say the same thing once. I thought last season was probably one of his best ones in terms of tackling - put in quite a few well timed ones. I think he had no other choice after admitting when he retired that he was indeed an accomplished tackler, he just liked to leave his mark!So refs would have been waiting for him to strike!

does anyone know about that young kid that we were linked with for 10 million. kovecic or sometghing, he was labelled the new modric apparently on a free now. knowing our luck spurs will get him for nothing and he'll be a star whilst we get luka for 30 million.

Modric's greatest strength is increasing the tempo of the game and laying the ball into the path of the player who will make the assist. this is why he'd be good here. he'd pick the ball up off carrick and he'd zip it out wide, he'll link up with rooney and kagawa. he's mobile and covers lots of ground. 25mil is a fair price and as has been pointed out in the thread there are reasons why levy would accept this deal.

AS long as Croatia don't advance, 25 Mil will be a fair price.
But i still am not really sold on him becoming a better player at OT or changing our gameplay that much.I Hope that i am wrong.

Croatia can win it and he still wouldnt be worth more than 25m.
Cracking player and would like him at united, however anything above 25m 30m tops its just rediculous.

Its not worth i am talking about , you know that , with levy-- Croatia Advance Levy will want more irrespective of whats worth ,City will sniff around and bang price war and we will simply walk out.
Hypothetical ,of course , but i can see this happen if they advance.

Same for any player - hence we have to get in and offer a fair price that gets accepted straight away so we can finalise a deal.
Or haggle and someone else comes in and drives up the price.

If we could get him for whatever we willing to spurt on Hazard i'd take him in a heart beat. Quality player. I don't think that we are genuinely in for him though as Spurs will bend us over.

This. He was impressive for Croatia the other day too.
