Not sure how arsed people here are, but I'm kind of excited for this, if it gets the requisite tv time. Plus I have a ticket for one of the days at OT. Little article on The Guardian's website. 7 players to watch. Quite a safe list, but interested in seeing the Mexican and if the lad from Celtic is any cop. www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2012/jul/14/london-2012-seven-footballers-watch

It's funny really - I don't think football should be a part of the Olympic Games at all. Not one bit.
But having said that, I'm quite looking forward to seeing Team GB give it a go. Don't think they'll win a medal to be honest, but I dunno when I'll see GB team again so I'm very interested to see how it all unfolds.
One last thing - Pearce is a twat.

The problem with my plan of Giggs finally retiring with a gold medal means Pearce and Bellamy would have to win gold as well.

Team GB v Brazil friendly on atm, just thought I give it a shout in here if anyone's interested.
GB getting run over by Brazil 2-0 at HT. Sandro's header and Neymar's penalty.

FT 2-0 loss.
Not a bad 2nd half performance by GB. Whatever they were doing differently from first half, keep sticking to that plan. Definitely works better than the 4-3-3 thing they had in the first half.
Despite only coming on at half-time, I was very impressed by Butland. Heard from the coverage that he was scouted by 52 scouts - can see why.
Lucas Moura seemed good, but not similar to Ronnie as I have read on places.

Only just watched the game and the stand out player for me was Oscar. Looks a cracking player to me but to be fair he was playing . Wore the number 10 but played more of a centre mid's role. When the full backs pushed up he tracked back and filled in well. Got up and around the box too. None of the falling around nonsense when he got fouled and very tidy in possession. No idea why weren't linked with him when he looks for more like the player we need than Moura.
Kept an eye on Clevers throughout and thought he looked as though he was protecting himself in the first half, especially because it looked (through my red tinted glasses) like Tottenham's Sandro was trying to kick lumps out of him. Pushed himself a lot harder in the 2nd and got 90mins, but on today I'm seriously worried about him. Looks like he's got about half the pace he had at this time last year.

Disagree Rax. Cleverley was for me probably the only outfield player in the GB team that would start for that Brazil side. Composed on the ball and finds space easily, a sign of a quality midfielder. He's obviously not match fit but he's not going to have any lost pace!

I'm worried that United fans overrate him. I hope they're right, but I haven't seen enough to get carried away. But you're concern is his pace - in his first match for how long?!?! - I don't think that's worth worrying about

Spain getting bullied by Japan. Fair play their doing well, granted its against 10 men but this is Spain, A team Japan have never beaten at any level of football so I hope they do it. Far as team related De Gea has made a few smart saves and looks very good in the air so that's a positive. Amazingly as well he has finally gotten rid of the bum fluff

And should have been more towards the end, wasted plenty of chances. Good on them though, deserved fully.
