Yes Alan. They were all my friends on facebook before I deleted my account. Excellent people. I think the biggest thing we gain from being on this forum besides sharing ideas about United is making new friends. In fact, RoM aside - United has contributed more than substantially to my social life. There really is no point being mean to each other. Nothing to gain.
Off topic. I'm curious too. Who are you Soapy?

Who's soapy? Now that ginger has mentioned it, Rais.n.Hell and Dizzy are big, big losses. I haven't had the chance to see Kokka's posts. This is pretty depressing, in forum-terms. It is definitely a shame. They all contributed a lot to this forum, but I guess we can't expect anyone to stay around forever. I've had a few periods where I've not been on here for months at a time, it happens.

While we don't see many personal attacks on here, I believe the degree of sarcasm is spiraling out of control. compared with other forums i've had a look at or attempted to post on, this place is fine. my mate described one forum we looked at as a 'sea of human crap'.

Who are you Soapy? I'm soapy!! Always was soapy even in my original account. I think I joined originally about a year after the forum was born, and whilst never a prolific poster, I did enjoy the conversation back then. It all became a little ridiculous around the time of Tevez' departure I seem to recall.

You're probably right Jim. But we're hardly a redcafe, who I suspect have a lot more members than us and can afford to lose a lot. If our posts are causing people to quit, we need to introspect.

Believe me Jim, this was the exact feeling I was getting back when I deleted. I did blow it out of proportion, I realise that now, but at that time the forum seemed totally at odds with the one I had joined in the beginning. Mild banter had given way to outright hostility, not at all helped by a couple of known trolls it has to be said.

There were obviously fewer members at the beginning but a lot more regular posters, many coming over from the Unitedrant forum. Gavinm, Missunited, onened, andover, Red Yank etc haven't posted in a long time or have deleted their accounts. There's been a few subjects that have created pretty negative atmospheres - to name but a few... the transition/decline arguments, Berbatov/Huntelaar, Tevez.

Bloody hell Mox, I'd forgotten some of those names. What did happen to Red Yank? He was the most prolific poster of them all.

Alright...which one of you bastards were slagging off Bebe again?
Quick, someone start a thread discussing the merits of faith vs organized religion. That'll get him back.

Well you're in jolly good mood i'd say.
But that's exactly how it should be, banter, OTT , Sarcasm at the end of day you put aside and start anew, you don;t or shouldn't just quit. I mean we all like UTD and are very passionate and it does get into the posts and may seem to cross the line but it won't be the same if it didn't.
WE all have our opinions and have jokers among us and the casual walkers and the more serious 1's , you get along.

I think alot of these lads may have realized they could be spending their time doing other things, perhaps offline, in the real world.
We all feel like that at certain stages, but it's completely different from people leaving because they were offended. Most of what's said on here must be taken with a pinch of salt in terms of the sarcasm and light insults - it's the internet after all. At the end of the day there will always be a core group of good lads on here and I'm glad this thread has been made in order to make everyone aware that they're still needed, this place thrives off the banter of some extremely intelligent regulars who have been here much longer than I have.
I'll be honest and say this was the first forum, United related, I actually felt I'd like to join as every other group/forum/page was overrun with people who know little or nothing about football, let alone United.
