All Americans and anyone who plays in Scotland should be automatically dismissed out of hand. and yet we had one playing for us and another many here wanted to buy in the summer .. ?

Who are these players? Especially the American "many" on RoM wanted us to buy?

you're gonna say larsson and dempsey. larsson is an exception you'd have to say and he'd been at barcelona before he joined us so he didn't come straight in from scotland. dempsey was a name being bandied by about 3 people, two of which were probably just wallowing in pity that we weren't bringing in big stars and the other one who wanted dempsey was shrike the yank

Jim 3 people bandied the name , not many opposed it , while it could be the frustration that we weren't signing or gonna sign anyone or whatever his name was still considered. and apart from Larsson , Tim howard .
Not to forget that we make Fridel "godlike" every time we play against him.
I don't watch SPL , so no idea and i rely only the rumors and reports when it comes to SPL players , still dismissing out of hand does not seem right.
Maybe they aren't United class , but then some of the players we had/have aren't either. besides didn't a SPL player hurt us last year in the 4-4 draw.
Not saying that we need to bring in players from SPL , if they are shit they are and we don't need them just saying that it shouldn't be out of hand.

A few others were as well.Tim Howard is a perfect example. Good player in the Premier League, not up to United standard. I do watch the SPl on a regular basis, dimissing any player from that League as not good enough for United is entirely justifiable. The standard of football in Scotland now is awful.Jelavic is a rare, rare, example of a player who was too good for the SPL in the first place and only ended up there because it was the name of Rangers. You occasionally get that, but not often these days. The days of Arteta's, Gattuso's and Larsson's up in Scotland are gone.

My only worry or botheration would be is what if we miss one of those exceptions. Not saying that this kid/guy is BTW, but just that with the relative small price tag and little competition ( as you know thanks to the Cunts we need to find "good ideal deals" ) if we was on of those gems than we at least ..well make a proper decision.

i think you mis-remember how it was karthy. a few people were pro-dempsey but there was massive opposition from pretty much everyone else, including me.

Again , in under current Context Jim , i feel the only way we will be getting players as long as the Cunts are in is if either the player is running down contracts , or has a market to be exploited or a relative Unknown or less Competition from others. I'd like us to go Subotic or Vidal or Hummels or Goetze , but the realistic is if we go into Bundes agan would be Guondang ( Excellent player BTW) cos he is "Marketable". Hence if a player is good , and is a position we need should go/try.

I watched Wanyama agaisnt Spartak the other day. He wasn't out of his depth, but that was a game between the two weakest teams in that group.

Have to agree that the SPL is one of the worst leagues imaginable. Especially when you factor in the fanatical support. Jelavic is Premier League quality no doubt, but still not good enough for us IMO. Charlie Mulgrew, Jon Daly, Steven Davis and Dean Shiels were the four nominated last year for the SPL player of the year award. Of the four I've only really heard of Davis because he plays for Southampton now. Initially thought; "Isn't Daly an Olympic diver?" And this is the best they have to offer... Says it all really.

I wouldn't concern yourself with it too much bud. If a player is one of the exceptions and too good for the SPL, they're still massively unlikely to be good enough for us. I know we can't pick and choose over players as we once did, but we aren't that badly off just yet.

If he's any good he'll go to a premier league side first like Newcastle or Spurs and then we'll buy him for 5 times more than they paid.
Didn't know it's his brother that plays for Inter.

Mariga? He plays for Inter. He's injured for the season, ain't he? Or was that last season?
EDIT: I'm editing this to say I was right and SET was late to the party. Probably shouldn't have buggered off for a while, should you lad?!
