Some good advice here! I'm by no means over-weight but also made a conscious decision to get fitter this year. Brougt a stationary cycle and I've got to say it's the best thing I could have done, Relatively cheap, whils you can check out your favorite show whilst burning 250-300 calories in around 30 mins. I do that pretty much 4/5 times a week. Also, my flat mate (who is the healthiest person I've ver met) told me you burn around 120-140 Kjs per hour whilst doing nothing, i.e. bodily functions, so if you can keep track of how much you burn and how much you take in things get a bit more simple. nutritiondata.self.com/ - a very good place to get an idea of what exactly is wrong with certain foods, I cut out needless stuff years ago. Though, the weekend binge drinking probably does the most damage for me. Good luck all.

One thing I will say as a man a bit older than you lads- do it now when you can. I was extremely fit all my life (decent level of rugby, jogging and gym 2 or 3 times a week after I finished that) and then a couple of kids bam!. It’s much harder to lose the pounds when you take a long break from excercise. If you can maintain a decent level of fitness it’s so much easier to keep as the years go by. Starting from scratch is hard enough but it’s a nightmare when you hit your late 30’s. It’s taken me 2 years of training and I’m still not back to what I was. Probably won’t get there if I’m being honest. So if you are thinking about it now, just do it and keep it up.

Is why I'm starting myself now, did well at the start of the year then hit the beer pretty hard, took a hard look at things recently so defo have to do sum thing, only 27 so a good time if none to get it cracking. Aiming to lose 3-4 stone so need it to be a strict routine, after all as people have said determination is the most important factor.

this thread is pretty useful as it goes for a bit of motivation, maybe we can keep it going.
i was getting up at 5am and going running, actually following a pre-season regime. after a few weeks i heard our team had folded, bit gutted and lost the motivation to do anything.
plan going forward is to get fit anyway and find a new team at some point. in the mean time i'm going to start lifting again and start aiming at bulking up a bit.

Maybe people doing so can keep an update on here, as you say would do well for motivation, plus if anyone has any tips as they go along maybe they can help others log he way.

Has a guy who was pretty Fat and having lost quite a few pounds here's my 2 cents.
If your a Sugar/Carb mouther and can't really live without it then take a glass of lime Juice or Greent(China) tea preferrably warm tea - this will help in faster break up of Carbs, Fat and also helps in burning the excess fat that's stored in your body. Switch to Dark Chocolate bitter but its good for health and also it will act as an aphrodisiac ( Sex and Kissing does burn fat a lot)
Take Chilled Water when your working out/ Cycling/ playing, the colder the water the more your body will react and Burn the fats. You should start to see the changes in about 2 weeks.
For days where you feel lazy then try the following. Get up and on Empty stomach to a glass of warm water add a teaspoon of Honey and squeeze half a lime an drink it. you can do your regular Activities after about 15 mins from then.
If you are really lazy then you can try "Sassy water" or the "Chinese water Therapy", i'd stick to the latter as sassy water isn't for everyone.
Hope you get to your goal. #thumb#

Get your sen a rowing machine,i got one a few months back and try to do 3-4 25minute sessions a week as said earlier though i've reached forty now so it's fooking hard going. I only have a bacon butty at the weekend and alpen during the week also i eat chicken rather than red meat mostly.I watched the horizon programme and did try it for a couple of weeks and it did make me feel better then i went to ireland for a week and it all went tits up.You could also check out this link which is another horizon programme(same guy)
