I'd never be able to give up coffee. Gave up nearly everything else over the years but that one isn't even up for debate.

Full metal jacket! Decaf is ok in fairness, it's improved a lot lately but I figure it's one of my only vices so to hell with it. I have stopped the latte, cappuchinos though and cut down to one spoon of sugar per cup.

Absolutely. I knocked a 30 smokes a day habit on the head 8 years but wouldn't even try to give up coffee. Well, I did once and was like a fucking demon for a few hours until order was restored.
Another tip for you Tatty. A fitness instructor once said to me- any form of exercise that basically gets you sweating even a little bit is working. So if you are walking, increase the pace even slightly. If the small of your back is slightly damp (steady on vicar!) then you are burning calories. That applies to cycling, jogging, walking etc.

Best advice i can give is to count your caloric intake that is what ultimatly dicates whether were putting weight on or loseing weight calories in vs calories out .....i.e. eating at a surpless (eating more than our matience calorie needs) will make us put weight on or eating in a calorie deficit (eating less than our matience amount of cals ) will lose weight ....if you have a iphone (not sure about the other smart fones) theres an absolute gem of an app called "my fitness pal) you basicly enter all ur details and it gives you an X amount of calories u need every day you then enter all the foods your consuming that day and the app has all the macronutients of each food ( protiens , fats , carbs) .....you dont need to be eating 6 small meals a day thts a proven myth thts jus not a sustainable way to live to the average 8hrs a day working man , also dont belive the carbs make you fat they dont you need them to fuel your body and brain especialy if your living an active lifestyle you will just burn yourself out , bottom line is work out your macronutiernt needs ,count calories, and have everything in moderation you can still have a weekend treat just keep it in moderation ...guareente you will lose weight ....sorry for the essay but something i feel pasionate about i was 16stone2 and currently sitting at 13stone8 baiscly by wht ive wrote changed my life for the better , need any help message me i can work out wht u need or give u some website tht give u a rough estimation on your caloric intake .... good luck anyway m8

forgot one more, add peppers, chilli's and spices on your salads , that helps in burning fat also.
Again as stew said get working on anything that gets you sweaty. But the best would be is to do faster without break for a short time , like 50 pushups /50 crunches/50 situps/lunges/mountain climbers in say 10 mins. Then try to beat yourself to do it in 8 , then 5 and so on. - for those hard pressed for time.
The faster you do the longer the effect lasts on you. The goal is to do 50 of each in under 5 Mins.
do it twice a day .

Absolutely. I knocked a 30 smokes a day habit on the head 8 years but wouldn't even try to give up coffee. Well, I did once and was like a fucking demon for a few hours until order was restored. i quit smoking a couple of years ago. 20-25 a day, i'd be spending easily 40 quid a week on smokes going on current prices if i'd not stopped. i wasn't exactly bang on caffine but i've switched to decaffinated tea and coffee. it's alright. if you have lots of caffine, especially coffe each day, you stand to benefit a lot by getting off it. read up on it.

Coffee and Smoke , the more you reduce the more you gain health wise. Also saw your post on Green Tea Jim, the bitter taste could be because you are using Very hot water on the Tea leaves or Bags, try switching to warm water and add lemon or honey and it works better..
