If you were simply meaning that he didn't get the game time in his earlier seasons due to the competition from RVN and Smith then fair enough, I mis read what you meant and apologise. I thought you were meaning when he was sold it was because he had RVN and Smith in front of him.
He'd looked good on loan, and in the few appearances he'd gotten with the first team, and in the summer he left we were short of numbers up front (when saha got his usual injury we pretty much only had 2 strikers left) so he could have very easily remained, and gotten game time. As it happens it worked out well I'll admit, the lack of strikers meant Macheda got a chance, and scored a winner which played a big role in the title win.
But for whatever reason he left it was a mistake in my opinion. Either Fergie didn't rate him, he's proved over the subsequent seasons he was good enough to have stayed and done well, or Rossi wanted out and Fergie decided to let him go and get first team football, in which case we could have organised another season long loan, or sold him for what he was worth, which was a lot more than 6 million.

Ah no, i was trying to point out that he had plenty of players ahead of him- should have been more specific but was at work at the time.
You were right that he did well on loan and should have been given more of a chance though.
I'd say we will never know the truth though. Not until Fergie's final book.

and what a Bargain that 5mil was to Barca But i have never saw this boy Schlupp play? has anyone else here? Rubbish. One of the most overrated players in world football. He barely has to defend at Barca and when he does he looks rubbish. Hernandez would probably look good at the back for Barca. |

He would be at least worth £25m up wards now. One of the best defenders about top class player.But i have never saw this boy Schlupp play? has anyone else here? Rubbish. One of the most overrated players in world football. He barely has to defend at Barca and when he does he looks rubbish. Hernandez would probably look good at the back for Barca. He plays for Barca, of course he is. It's like Chelsea players, even the mediocre ones are lauded as 'best in the world', or 'top two in the world'. Bollocks. |

They may have won all the pots before - but they didn't last season  Plus, they may have some great players, but that doesnt mean they are all great! |

Keep your strawman arguments to yourself jim. I said that because he plays for Barcelona, he is automatically assumed by some to be a better player than he actually is. Look at Busquets as a prime example. Good player, does a very particular job very well, but he isn't that great a great footballer in the overall reckoning. Yet people talk about him as if he's better than Scholes or Zidane or Beckenbauer. |

also no-one in the history of the world has ever said that busquets is a scholes, zidane or a beckenbauer. who's the aunt sally now?

Just because he does the dirty work and acts like a twat a lot of the time people think that's all he does, but he's a huge player for Barca. So often he's the one who starts the attacks and his passing is actually immense, his ability to pass through opposing midfields is top notch. |
