I would really think hard about this one. You're entrenched in your view of Ole and that's fine but LVG's football was generally pretty horrible. I'm sure we can go through the archives here alone and see the complaints of LVG's tactics in games against teams we're supposed to beat. LVG did win us the FA Cup but the consensus at the time was relief that he was finally gone since he was a fucking basket case on his own. I disagree ,whilst a lot of was very dour & unpleasant on the eye, there was always a plan & system with LVG. Yes a system that was painful to watch and ineffective against teams who sat back and let us side ways pass the hell out of a game with 70% plus possession and 2 shots on target. Let’s not rewrite history to serve your narrative, use some common sense.

For what it's worth & with hindsight,we probably got rid of LVG to soon. I've lived through the end of the Doc,Sexton,Atkinson,SAF,Moyes,LVG,Jose & OGS from a personal perspective this is worst it's been for me,but that's just my view.

I disagree, there were the odd great performances & a Cup,much like now just without the silverware, far better than now.

If van Gaal had better players and a more balanced squad we would have seen much better football from his system. Purely conjecture, of course. Based on his previous teams and performances the style of football we played under him seemed so out of sync.

The wrong managers have had the wrong squad each time, we now have probably our strongest squad with our worst manager

Only exception was when we went on that 3 or 4 match winning streak ,only to be stopped by Jose's chelsea. Now that i think about it that was the only time Fosu Mensah looked good !

Whatever happened to Leonardo Jardim ? His monaco team was superb.
He has disappeared from the scene nowadays

It was also Van Gaal that got rid of Welbeck, Kagawa, Evra, Hernandez, Evans, RVP, Nani, Rafael. And all for about 40M for for lot. He ripped the soul out of a title winning squad and people give him a pass because he was eccentric and did a funny fall against Arsenal. You could argue Welbeck did nothing after leaving and Evra wanted out, maybe, but we'd have absolutely been better over the next few years had the others still been here. He was an arsehole for that and I won't forgive him.

The football was dire at times but it can be forgiven as we always looked about two players off his actual plan. Although Evra was a Woodward fuck up.

I don't care what he achieved elsewhere. With Manchester United he was absolute garbage. Any other opinion is revisionism. And what's your opinion of Ole? Who has zero trophies and better players? He's been here one full season, and inherited a squad littered with deadwood. Would any manager have beaten the scouse for the league last season? Ole is fairly inexperienced at this level, and has obviously made mistakes. The next manager will make mistakes too. SAF did. This is not even a defense of Ole. Just pointing out what for me is a poor argument from the "sack him" corner.
