Any vinyl folks in here? I love music and have recently gotten into audiophilia, and I've been mulling whether its worth getting into or not - especially considering the costs involved to really get a good vinyl system. Seasoned vinyl users - educate me. I still use and expand my parent’s record & tapes collection and Technics hi-fi system. I orient my life around analogue tech so perhaps I think the cost is more justified than I should— but there are many memories to be had and stories shared exploring car boots, charity shops and perhaps even exchanging with friends or family. If you want to really scrounge online for the best deals, I’ve got some brilliant tech and records/tapes from international sellers; my friend bought a camera(not the same I know but similar process) refurbished from Japan for a fraction of the price an English seller would. I would say ask around your friends and family if they’ve got any tech they’ve not used for decades and would sell you, if not, car boot sales and charity shops, if not, online’s got enough people selling anything under the Sun, but will cost a tad bit more. For records, I go for charity shops, but I’ve got many records from job lots with hidden gems amongst them. Hope this comes in handy. I’m into VHS tapes too, and I’ve had friends go to ‘tape shares’ so I wonder if theres an audiophile version of these?

Seasoned vinyl users - educate me. there are quite a few good record players out there for "getting started" that wont cost you too much. but i would honestly just go to a small, good vinyl shop. some of those shops sell record players as well and just have a talk with the guy running the shop. although...you live in dubai right? not sure if there are many vinyl shops out there?

For anyone that hasn't been to any of the recent James 'Lasted' Orchestral Tour Gigs,I can't recommend their new Album 'Be Opened By The Wonderful' enough,Orchestra reworks of many classics & few unexpected & not so well know gems. Their greatest Album to date without any doubt. We saw them in Cardiff & have booked tickets to go the end of tour in Athens in July

Went to see The Damned last night (my fifth time over 40 years). They can still put on a hell of a show!

I'm a very lucky man. Instead of watching those blue idiots get the treble, I was in a field with no signal at download festival.
Hopefully it's all blown over now and won't be mentioned again....

Did Metallica do Saturday? Love Download, top festival. Thursday and Saturday. 4 days of headliners as it was the 20th anniversary. Closing with Slipknot was incredible. But 4 days of no sleep in a shit warm tent, no shower, and beer for breakfast has caught up with me!

I was at Download when Joey had to drum as Lars Ulrich was a no show. He did quite a lot of the set with Slayers drummer. Brilliant gig. I'm too old for a four dater now!

Just finished watching the QOTSA set on iPlayer. Fuck me they were brilliant, probably right at the top of the list of bands I have to see live.

I've seen them a few times now, they are fantastic live, but the like clockwork tour was something else. I'm trying to find a particular song for you! Edit. This is great if you have time to watch it. Edit edit. Forgot to post the link 😂
