Wasn’t a fan of Motson’s commentary, but a legendary figure in football no doubt. Rest in peace. Preferred Brian Moore myself(Pearson 1-0 in 77). When both the BBC and ITV used to screen the FA Cup final we'd watch the game on ITV then switch over to the BBC at HT and then back again for the second half. Mottys best moment for me. www.manutd.com/en/videos/detail/18-may-goal-of-the-day-norman-whiteside-v-evertonStill R.I.P to one of the voices of football throughout my younger years.

Gazza goal vs Scotland springs to mind with Motson as well as his tears in Turin. Can hear both of those lines in my head when i see a picture or video of them on tv.

But despite that, he’s pretty much the defining image of a football commentator.

A legend for sure, even if I didn’t really like his commentary back in the day. I did soften towards him when he used to get the odd FA cup gig on the BBC in later years though.

A legend purely by becoming a parody of himself. Drury's the same now.

Sad news. I always liked Motson. The voice of football for me growing up. Always seemed like a genuinely nice man, as well.

A good friend of mine has a stammer so this is excellent from the Watford lad. Genuinely inspirational stuff.

Been some way off the best era for a long time. It was oddly comforting occasionally having it to just stick on on the background on a Saturday morning in recent years though. A nostalgic hit more than anything else. It's like most of modern football, too-far removed from the bits we really loved. Shame really.

Used to like it back in the day when Lovejoy still presented it. Reckon I watched around 5 after he left and haven’t seen it since.
