Nothing to link this with, but merely my own thought that this thread is inevitable. We have a 30 page thread on Bale but for me that's just the wrong target even if it would be exciting.
Our squads pretty strong now, with Zaha coming in with have a nice balance of strength in experience and potential in nearly every area. Except for that great big obvious one, central midfield. Wilshere's young, English, as talented as any young midfielder around with the added bonus of having the grit necessary for the premier league. Also looks at home on the biggest stage against the world best players with minimal real expereince.
Have been a fan of his for while but it was sensible to wait to see how he'd return after ~15 months out. He seems fine in that regard and is continue to fulfil his potential. He tossed some jibes at RvP about loyalty last summer which could be an issue, but the after the Bayern game you could maybe see he received a dose of reality and cynicism. If Arsenal do get spanked again and end up 5th, we'll have to see.
Arsenal would be loathe to sell to us, no doubt. But what i'm actually suggesting is bulldoze the deal, beat our own record. We don't need to spend any money elsewhere in the squad (well except maybe a 2nd mid), we spent £50mill 2 years ago, ~£40mill last year. Use the vast majority of it to buy him if needs be. Yes it would be a lot of money, but better spent than on a 5th winger. For me the deal makes a lot of sense.

this owuld be the deal of deals, to be fair i'd take this over balle all day everyday. position we need. a 3 of carrick cleverly and wilshire would be oh so nice, thats energy, drive and calm. with rooney, rvp and kags to put the chances away

said it for a while now. bale and wilshere would be the perfect additions to the side. not that either is especially likely, but they'd be spot on for us.

Wilshere is a talyor made United player. More so than Bale. Lad oozes class. Though his injuries are a worry,

i'd say bale is as tailor made a united player as you'll see. we are a club with a history of awesome wingers aren't we and he'd be the latest in the line.
but yeah. wilshere. have him off 'em!

Both Bale and Wilshere are class.
Close to zero chance of landing them though. I think Wilshere might be the type of player who stays with a club for a long amount of time, if not to the end - so he might not necessarily move. Maybe, maybe not.
Get Robin van Persie to poach the lad, might help.

I think it all depends how much longer Arsenal's barren streak goes on for. He clearly loves the club but I suppose at some point he'll have to think of his career and whether he's likely to win anything there. I imagine if Wenger left then it would be much easier to persuade him to leave but despite all the paper talk I can't see Wenger ever leaving unless he's kicked out. Sadly I don't think this is a realistic transfer at all, at least in the next couple of seasons.

The kid is class but don't see if happening. Would love it if it did though.
Would help add to the "Fear Factor" Bestie always alludes to, seeing us being as dominant as we are at the moment, then spending 40 million or so on the hottest young English player around.
Think if the board accepted a bid from us for him though it would be the straw that broke the camels back for Wenger, he'd walk away.

Definitely think Wilshere is more realistic than Bale. But not this summer. I think he'll see where they're heading - at least next season.

Wilshere > Gotze? Slightly different players however Taking into consideration the difference in positions, I'd take Gotze anyday of the week.

really paulo? when we are stocked with wingers, attacking mids, number 10's and all the rest of it, why take a player that fits into that category over an influential box to box central midfielder that we don't have and need?
