Jose gets his man (again). I don't think all the pieces of the jigsaw are in place yet, one or two more to come I reckon. Was thinking the same. Need a reliable upgrade at LB - to compete or replace Shaw. And a reliable LW/RW to push the existing group to do better.

Anyway, on Matic- here's a decent vid of him last season. Usual YouTube provisos and he was complete gash in the FA Cup Final but still, some impressive stuff here: Let's hope he's flushed that version of himself down the Cobham sewers. If he can give us on average a 7/10 performance we will be right up there with City and Chelsea.

Just read a stat that he got 7 assists in the league last year, which doesn't sound like an awful lot until you realise it was the 3rd highest in the Chelsea team...and more than anyone in our squad!

Matic is left footed - Louis likes this. ii. Matic got two assists against the Vermin. Excellent.

Funny how you subconsciously think about players, Iv always thought Matic to be a good player with Chelsea and Im sure he will be for us.
But I remember thinking that Mata was much quicker than I expected, it wasn't until he came to us that I realised how slow he is.

He has pretty quick feet and his long legs get tackles in and get him out of trouble... He can pick a pass... He anticipates pretty well for interceptions... Overall better than I expected (I know it's Youtube and all but still...)

Yes he can do good, but he's been shite for most of the past 2 seasons , in our games against Chelsea, Fellaini has had the better of him.

He wasn't shit last season, he was one of Chelsea's best players. He did an excellent job shielding the back 3, which freed up Kante to chase the ball and nip at everyone's heels, if it wasn't for Matic, he wouldn't have been nearly as effective. He also weighed in with his fair share of assists, and was one of their most important players for set pieces, defending and attacking.

www.football365.com/news/matic-is-a-gross-loss-for-us-admits-chelsea-boss-conteAntonio Conte has admitted that Nemanja Matic will be “a gross loss” for Chelsea this season following his transfer to Manchester United. The 28-year-old completed a move to Old Trafford on July 31 for £40million after winning the Premier League title with the Blues last term. Conte had hinted previously that he was unhappy that the club had chosen to let the Serbian midfielder leave Stamford Bridge and now he has confirmed that his sale will hit his side hard. “Matic knows very well what I think about him,” Conte told Sky Sports. “The importance for me about this player, as I repeat he’s a really real good player, he’s a really strong player, very important for our team. “But sometimes I think you must accept this crazy transfer market. Sometimes you must accept different decisions. “But I repeat – for sure this a gross loss, a great loss for us.”
