He's been instrumental for Benfica in the middle in Europe, but thats about all i know.
Considering Chelsea bought him for 1.5mill then used him as makeweight for the Luiz transfer, it will be interesting to see how much he goes for. If he goes that is.

seen him play a bit. he is pretty good young player. reminds me of a younger version of Carrick. i wouldnt mind seeing him come to Old Trafford. but he only recently signed a long term contract, presumably because Benfica wanted to do try and strengthen their negotiating position when other clubs bid for him. plus, Benfica are known to sell their players for above market values, and they dont always live up to the fee, like Javi Garcia for example.
he is a talent, but his valuation has skyrocketed, and transfermarkt say the same. based on that websites valuations, he is more expensive than Strootman. even if they were worth the same, Strootman is head and shoulders above Matic, in terms of overall benefit we would receive by signing him. plus, he is more proven and established, has skippered Holland and has become a key player for them.
so, if we get Matic, i would be happy. but i think there are better players than him out there, in the same age bracket, that too for a cheaper price.

First time I've seen this guy and I'm impressed. Quietly effective, provides a real shield in front of his back four. He's huge but pretty mobile. Can see why we're supposed to be interested.

What have you thought of the ref in this game stew? I thought he had a really poor game, very pernickity and seemed to favour Fener. Might just have been me. Agreed on Matic, he didn't do anything to get noticed, just did his job pretty effectively. And we all know I like that sort of player. |
