No player in their right mind is going to announce they are leaving in a press conference.
But doing a press conference doesn't mean they are staying either. Its part of their job. Like going on a club's pre-season tour isn't an indication of whether a player is leaving or not

We then wait for Barca to respond on the 1st September, panic buy Jordan Henderson for £40m and fast track Fletcher back and VOILA, new midfield sorted! |
