Reading on the BBC about Iconic Starting 11's that hardly ever actually played together (turns out Working From Home is more From Home than Working). Turns out that: Schmeichel, Parker, Bruce, Pallister, Irwin, Kanchelskis, Ince, Keane, Giggs, Hughes, Cantona, only ever started 6 league games, and just 12 in all comps! I find that mental!! I thought that was rolled out every other week. Never lost a game, only drew one, the Charity Shield with Arsenal which we won on pens. In the league, that starting 11 beat Spurs 1-0, Everton 1-0, QPR 3-2, Sheff Wed 5-0, Leeds 2-0 and Ipswich 2-1. And then onto the next team: Schmeichel, Neville, Johnsen, Stam, Irwin, Beckham, Scholes, Keane, Giggs, Cole, Yorke, only ever started 1 single league game! Beat Coventry 1-0. The only other game that 11 started was the 2-0 over Inter in the Champions League. I mean I know squad rotation played a big part in 1999 but still, I would have gone for that 11 as our usual starting team, to find out they played twice, ever? That's mind blowing. Holy shit! That is unreal. I mean, that was our team in 99 in my mind.

I cannot even work out what changes we would have be making every week. Berg defence, Butt in midfield, Teddy up front?

Can think of rotational players who would have made plenty of appearances but it's the only two games that is throwing me.

When you look at the appearance stats for that season. Butt, P Nev and Blomqvist started a really large number of games.

Just watched “Chicharito’s” goals on the club App. 2 things amazed me, firstly, the use of that name throughout the commentary as I remember him fondly as Hernandez, not Chicharito, and secondly, how many times a comeback was mentioned and turning around a deficit. My memory is failing me as I can’t recall frequently biting my nails as we fought to get back into so many games!

I cannot even work out what changes we would have be making every week. Berg defence, Butt in midfield, Teddy up front? Giggs had a few niggles that year, so Blomqvist played a bit. Think Wes Brown made his debut that year too. Nicky Butt played a lot too, as did Pip Neville. Ole and Teddy up top. And I think David May had a run of games at one point.

He signed for West Ham, managed by ... David Moyes, in my Wolves Champ Man career. Disgusted. Although true to life he resigned one game before they were relegated, the spineless cunt.
