Personally I wouldn't be sad to see Nani depart, I wouldn't be suprised to see Zaha finish the season with Palace and then move Nani on in the summer to make way.

Ive seen Zaha a few times since and he does look a cracking little player, watched the highlights of the Palace/Stoke game in the Fa Cup and hes a skillful player with a lot of pace, something we could really do with.
On the Nani Situation I will be gutted if he does go because Id like to see him reach his real potential but the longer time goes on the less chance that its likely to happen. If it means bringing in talent that can do the job better then im certainly not going to be against it, Although I would like Fergie to give Nani one last run out to see if he can prove everyone wrong.

Nani's been here 5 years now lads, 5 YEARS! You'd have thought he would have reached his potential by now? I know he's only 26 but he's been trained by the best for those 5 years and still isn't a consistent performer for me.

I know that, just be a shame to see him leave after the expectation we had with him. Ive bashed him previously but we know what quality he has that's the sad part.

the sad thing for us and nani is that top ten in the world ability is hamstrung by that erratic brain. mules is right, nothing is going to change, he's been here long enough and he's not a kid, this is the player he is and he's a player who needs managing. or selling

I know that, we all do, but there is a little part of me that will be gutted to see him go, when hes been on form hes amazed us, sadly its not been consistent enough. Either way ill be gutted to see him go, but we always seem to replace talent with better talent so silver linings and all.

I won't be gutted if we see £20m for him personally.

I won't be gutted if we see £20m for him personally. Just not to a rival. That's all I ask.

From this vid I just don't see what the hype is about, not even the ferocious pace people talk about. What exactly makes this kid so good, he does a step over every now and again and otherwise can cross sort-of well. Reminds me of a younger Bebe, haha.
That said, if most people say he's the real deal then there's obviously more to him than meets the eye. From what I'm seeing he'll not get into the side ahead of any of our wingers for a good few years at least, especially with SAF saying outright he's not shipping Nani, however true this might be.

To be honest, if he was to sign for say Arsenal or Spurs, it could be yet another player where we end up asking why the hell we didn't sign him two or three years ago so I think it's worth taking a calculated risk on him. He's only just turned 20, is strong, fast and skillful so with a bit of guidance I see no reason why he can't become a top player. Hopefully he keeps his head down and works hard and doesn't let the fame go to his head if this does go through.

Worst case scenario is that we sign him for £12m eventually, he does alright not great and we sell him for £17-20m. Good bit of business even if it doesnt work out!

Surely the worst case scenario would be more like: We sign him for 12m and he suffers a career ending injury in his first training session with us. Or we sign him for 12m, he flourishes into the world's best player and runs down his contract and joins City? That sounds like the worst to me!

Was there this much posturing when we signed Ronaldo??
There was nothing to guarantee he would be a top player and that we weren't wasting money with him, but thats part of the point of buying young players - trying to turn them into the best.
Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. If we don't bother trying then we might as well give up completely.

Fuck it, if we're buying him we're buying him. Good news - he'll likely be sent straight back on loan to Palace for the rest of the season anyway. We could just take our own medical team to London, plus the contract, do it in one of the London hospitals, sign him up, and drop him off back at the Palace training ground until July.
Then he will be promptly included on the pre-season tour, played in those 4 or 5 games, and sent on loan again before being sold in two years for about £ 5 million having had 3 starts in the Mickey Mouse Cup and 8, 20 minute sub appearences in competitions we actually give a shit about.
Or Zaha could turn into a really good player for us. You know, either/or.
